Bought her when I was 20 sold her when I was 30.

While I had her for the 10 years I had many other machines as working bikes- from trailies ,rat bikes and old tubular framed road bikes.(not retros, they were the origionals!)

Did most of the work miself and even though the barrells were farmed out for boaring,Me and my mate John completely stripped the shagged engine down and refurbished it(god I hate lapping new valvues in and as for under bucket shimms and gearbox reconditioning !!!!!)

I've owned a GPZx 750 & another ZX1100 (also with bigbore) and am quite adept at working and rebuilding any of the old Z,GPZ engins-There all basically the same.

Nedless to say, when I ride a mates brand new Blackbird,I had to get one and I just had to move on!!!
But I still look back with rose tinted glasses with gread memories of Building,Riding & all the bike shows I used to take her to.

I'll never forget you:k
Mind you- compared to these modern machines , the handeling was:confused: to say the least.
But if ya can ride & survive on an early eighty's machine that handles like a barge with a hinge in the middle-then ya can pilot anything !!!:cool:

Have always loved Z650 duck-tail tailpieces.

I know she wasn't the most out landish of modified bikes-But she did me proud back then & she was all mine.

No longer can I call my garage the Z-shed,Miss you:B

Now I have a Bird Box- for my new ride :D

Nice Bike mate, can't help feeling you had a bit to much time and money when you were younger :} :}

Read the blurb in the third picture down.

Text on the right hand side-Most of the parts were obtained by swapping other bits or doing work for people. The breakers in aldershot know me well & so would borrow bits one weekend to see if they would fit,and then return next weekend to get a special price for being a constant customer.
My mate rob did the paint for 25 quid and the rest was bought with hard earned cash!!!!
Most expensive purchase was when I threw away the DFI and bought some MIKUNI flat slide carbs.
Oh - and my old man got me the Weiseco bigbore kit for my 21st birthday.
Bought the bike for 1600 and sold it for 1850,10year later with a lot of miles on the clock & a little less kept than she was in the shots.
