Well for one I hope they will be very happy.
He did what his family wanted him to do, married a totally unsuitable lightweight who had a bit of a vicious/mean/sly streak from a very early age (that's just according to a chap we know who used to work on the Alsthorp estate when she was growing up but then he is the only person I have ever met who actually knew her) who was promoted by his granny; he and she produced the requisite heir and a spare; end of one chapter.
I did and do feel a bit sorry for Diana - it seems to me no-one else in the Royal family wanted her at all and I am sure she suffered for it. But once Charlie was 'out of love' with her I am also quite sure she could have led a cosseted life doing what the hell she wanted - within reason - if only she had had a modicum of discretion - I think 'the family' would have paid handsomely for her silence and buttoned their lips if she had hers. You really can't win against that sort of opposition and I'm sure her father would have told her that if he'd been around. As it was, everybody just took advantage and made some money for themselves. Barstewards, but she was her own worst enemy.
All that is, as they say, water under the bridge. Why the hell should Charles be a lonely old man? Why shouldn't Camilla be allowed to be at his side to support him publicly as well as in private? No man is an island and no woman is either. Marriage is an estate of companionship "for the mutual comfort of each other".
The C of E if you recall your history, was created by a man who wanted a divorce and couldn't get one by any other means. How very fitting that the future Defender of that Faith should also be a divorcee! And my understanding of their rules is that - as with Baptism - it is much up to the individual vicar as to whether he will marry you in his church or not, he then has to make a case to his Bishop, who has the final word. I also know couples who have snook off to the registry office early on a Saturday morning and arrived at church a few hours later to a full congregation and all the trimmings for a Blessing ceremony - which some of the guests thought was the full monte, anyway.
Love em or loathe em, the Royal family are a HUGE source of income for this country especially from the Americans, who are just sooooo jealous because we've got em - and they ain't.
Emma - you are joking aren't you? People's curiosity will make them watch the event. How fascinating, I mean she's no oil painting, is she? - I wonder what she'll wear? In any event I'm absolutely certain that Camilla's hair will look a thousand times better than Diana's did on her wedding day. And of course I look forward to seeing pics of Princess Anne looking genuinely pleased - I think she's brill.
I really do wish them both a happy life together. Pete and I are happy - why should they be denied the chance?
