After 18 months of pure bliss working nights, tomorrow I start back on shifts, starting at dinner time. now begins the task of finding all those nice people who don't like nights and getting them before anyone else does.

Derek You could of course be worse off

In the Scottish Prison Service Residential officers no longer do night shifts

You can vaulenteer(sp) to do constant night shift week on week off

BUT you drop a pay band to operational band C ?12500-?18150

So if youve got some service thats about a ?7K drop for the luxury of working nights

I think I'll stick with the shifts:bang:

I used to really lookfrward to nights too. three early's day off seven nights and then a week offc7u8

Good to see you back DK. Fortunately I'm on leave for a week so I won't be seeing you straight away. I think you'll be OK for nights on D wing. The main bandit on there is Ashworth and he's on black div.

Or you could just settle back into the real world and work with prisoners like the rest of us

And for the benefit of Parttimepilot, you make like to know that at Monster Mansion you can apply for a year on nights, and maybe a six month extension. Not only do you not lose pay, but you also get to keep your leave, which in our case is 41 days a year including Bank Holidays. By dipping into next years holiday entitlement you can have six sets of nights a year off which means you only work 19 weeks at 7 nights a week, which equals 133 nights worked each year. And if you take one week of nights as leave you get three weeks off including the days off before and after.

Now you can see why he's a bit miffed about being on days. Not only that but his chances of overtime are seriously diminished. :xm

I know just how he feels as I was on nights until last year :B
