Just after the First World War the Spanish Flu epidemic spread across the globe, ultimately killing a minimum of 17 million people. Some estimates put that as high as 100 million.

Currently there are 87 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the UK.

So could someone PLEASE give the news channels and newspapers a dictionary each so that they can look up the definition of the word "epidemic".

Any minute now the BBC is going to declare it a pandemic and I'm going to have to put my foot through the telly.

We had an outbreak of norovirus at the nick, management decided to isolate infected prisoners in their cells, they didn’t take into account the half inch gap all round the doors or the fact that staff had to take the food to the prisoners, yes I was one of the members of staff who caught the virus.

All airline staff where Mrs Poo works have been given simple advice by BA:

1. Cough or sneeze into a tissue and then bin it.
2. Wash hands frequently with soap and water.
3. Avoid shaking hands.

Out of 14,000 cabin crew, not a single one is infected as yet.

Mass hysteria and bullshit propagated by ignorant twats in the media.

One thing I really find staggering is the amount of people panic-buying food and provisions. Absolute fuckwits.

I switched BBC news off a couple of nights ago following two coronavirus related articles;

- the first was a lengthy piece about holidays including phrases like 'I can understand why people,are,getting very stressed about this'
- the second was from a uk distribution warehouse where they were talking about the possibility of there being a shortage of toys produced in the Far East at Xmas. Barbie dolls and Paw Patrol (whatever that is) specifically mentioned.

Struck me that I wouldn't be too impressed if I lived in an area where people were dying. Western culture at its finest.

On a positive note (for me, anyway), the cruise industry is suffering quite badly. The price of our Trans-Pacific cruise that we've booked for September has now come down by a grand because people are cancelling or are not booking; either way, there's a lot of space on most cruises for the year ahead. On our cruise, an inside cabin can now be had for about £450, which is peanuts for 15 nights.

@T.C might be a good idea to think about this year's cruise, Tony

To my mind, if you're gonna get it, you're gonna get it. No point worrying about it. I just follow current guidelines which being a civil servant is much the same as airline staff are being told.

Had swine flu a few years back while in Spain. Can't remember much about the holiday but was advised by a medic on site not to mention swine flu or I'd have been isolated. self isolated anyway, not much choice as I was feeling crap.
