There but for the grace

We bought one of these to go with the panniers and tankbag. Decided that there was no way we could fix it safely, even cut bits off to make it stable, waste of time, it is F"?$%^& useless, put it down to being British and growing up!

We have not seen any safety warning with regards to this item, apart from the general warning issued by Oxford for all their gear.

As a substitute we use an Ortlieb roll top 'duffle' type bag, works a treat.

Hhhmmm.. that is very interesting indeed.. I wonder if this could have anything to do with the attitude to bikes in Wales ?
Sorry if that sounds a bit heartless as the poor guy lost a daughter, but something like this could easily sway someones outlook to life...

This guy is the deputy... the big problems in N Wales are down to his 'Zero Tolerance' boss, the the Chief of Police.

Maybe if this guy ever gets a crack he'll be more sympathetic to bikers needs.

He certainly has my deepest sympathy, to outlive a child is a thing every loving parent dreads but to be witness to their tragic death must be truly unbearable.

RIP Jenny Brereton.

It always pays to check and double check the security of anything attached to your bike, couple of minutes late leaving is far better than not arriving. Even hard luggage is worth checking, is it locked on, is it fitted to all the lugs. Soft luggage is worth having extra elastic straps over it.

This story was covered in depth on a CB500 forum, one of the things that came out of the discussion was that it must be very difficult to make a 'universal' bag, owing to the diversity of bikes on the road, with different securing locations, width of seats etc.

For what its worth

The ONLY bespoke tail pack to fit the blackbird, and quite a number of other bikes, is the Bagster Whoppa.
Its available in two sizes (25L + 30L) and attaches by a specific fitting kit.
The 30L model fits the blackbird.
Even has safety poppers on the zip pulls to stop it all coming undone and zips on and off in seconds.
Apparently stays put even when flat out.........................

Excellant bit of kit, I've got one for my VFR, only problem is it can take a little bit of time to fit when fully loaded. :xm
