New to this forum... Hello Guys w;;v
I have a 1999 fast red one (ha ha) with 21k on the clock. A few mates and I are going on a North Scotland 8ree!tour this June and I was thinking of using the Jaws conversion kit to try and make the long runs a bit easier on the ageing wrists.
I've read most of the threads on here but wanted to know what they were actually like to use. Comfort, handling fitting etc. Also how much, if any, are they wider than the normal set up cos my bird only just fits through the shed door now with the mirrors folded away.

And has any one fitted heated grips to this conversion (is it the same fitting instructions as standard)
Any info would be appreciated :-0)

Canna comment on the riding position other than to say it is similar to a Bandit :p

They are no wider than the standard set up.. from memory the bars are 74cm wide but most folk take off about 10mm each side to ease fitting etc, so really they will proly end up 72cm

Hiya, I see your not far from where I live, if you want to pop over and have a try, on my bike, it has straight bars, your welcome!!:dunno: heated grips the diameter as the bars should be no problem at all, though if your going to Scotland in June, you probably wont need them  I would however suggest you get a set of mirror extenders first unless you like seeing your arms in the mirrors,:-0)

Cheers mate, i will let you know about popping over. I might just take the plunge tho.

re mirror extenders, I always see my arms in the mirrors even tho I have standard set up at the moment:dunno:

More so with the straight bars!!:dunno: let us know if you want to try before you buy, it is bloody comfy though, like riding a naked bike, but with all the benefits of the fairing!! :-0)

Depending how tall you are, depends how much buffeting you get. At high speed you have to bend forwards to reduce the buffeting. Around town and a roads the conversion is great. I used to get aches in wrists and elbows but conversion has solved the issue. You can always change back if you dont get on with it.

Does the conversion really not need any other parts (brake, clutch lines etc) cos I have read so many conflicting posts on the net.

I don't mind if it does.. but don't want to get the bars off this week end and find it wont go back together sh1tehppns

Nope, they are however a right twat to get right, as John said in a previous post, most chop about half an inch off the bar ends to help with the tightness problem, @tu*

sorry if I'm teaching granny to suck eggs, but if you've a digital camera take LOTS of pictures of everything, BEFORE taking anything off, it will help with putting it all together.

fitting is easy..........take some flowers round to Robbos house, give them to his Missus to keep her quiet like, and then get him to fit yours EASY.........I think I am right in saying he was the JAWS test pilot for this item??:dunno:

The bars are on. Ferking two hour job my arse :xm

But had to fit 2 x new longer throttle cables and 1 x new longer clutch pipe..they were just too tight for my liking, didnt fancy the throttle sticking on a right hander.

Tip.. don't cut the 12mm off the bars...get cables and pipe. Lucky for me my mate has a bike shop so ?20 of beer tokens and he made them up and gave me the longer spiegler pipe cos it was kickin around the shop doing nowt. @tu*

Also had the yoke brackets polished...just too dull for me.

Will post pics when I learn how to :dunno:
