To take this in a slightly different direction , interesting that today the moral arguments about vaccine distribution internationally are beginning to be aired Ie supporting the lesser developed countrie.

while not wishing to trivialise those arguments it is brilliant in a way that this has happened ~ vaccines are coming on stream at an increasing pace and people are beginning to look to the future And the wider perspective.

After all that effort, the first thing the morons do is throw Eire under the bus,,
As the fall out from all this crap the EU is handing out unfolds the business world is ALREADY making noises
At least 2 major firms are making leaving noises, and a lot of the BIG money boys are planning retreats as the EU ( so far ) has refused to recognise London as an important financial centre.
Where as 18 months ago the murmur was moving firms over to the EU, it is now rumored plans are being laid to relocate EU offices yo London
They see to have realised the EU might have a couple of big players, but the rest of the world is a whole lot bigger !

It seems there's an amusing side to this.
Arlene wanted to invoke Article 16 to do with issues of moving goods between N.I. and U.K. but government wouldn't do it. Now EU has invoked it and she's complaining about that.
But also she's asking Boris to aggressively use Article 16.

I'm very confused - again

London is the original, and arguably the biggest and most important (in terms of history), financial centre in the world.

I can see things blowing up in the collective faces of the Eurotwats over the coming months (maybe couple of years). I've said from the get go (and I may yet stand to be corrected) that 27 or so different countries, languages and cultures do not mix. Socialism does not work, ask Russia. The EU was doomed to failure as soon as they tried to become a United States of Europe; and let's be honest here, thats what this was always about. Germany couldn't take Europe by force so they thought they could do it economically with the snivelling assistance those surrender monkeys, Les Collaborateurs.

It should only ever have been a collective for free trade around Europe. Mrs T knew that and was keeping it that way until that slimy twat Major and his toadies stabbed her in the back because they knew better. Wrong, dickheads, so very wrong.

Said this time and time again, we were misled by that bstd Heath into joining what was sold as a collective for free trade but was covertly anything but. I voted to remain in 1975 under the politically naive understanding that was what it was, I mean, what’s not to like about trade? both my father and father in law said “nothing good is coming out of that mark my words” and by fuck over the years they’ve been proved right, some good advantages no doubt about it, but at what price? The antics of that shit weasel Major was the crossing of the Rubicon for me and I was forced to admit the old boys were right.

I see that the EU invoked article 16 last night only to revoke again soon after in a storm of controversy.

This total farce is in my opinion another nail in the EU coffin. It’s breakup has to me seemed pretty inevitable after the UK left. Why would the richer states be happy about having to dig deeper into pockets after the UK left to support the poorer states.

As an aside, just watched an interesting article on the news suggesting - no more than that - that Germany has contracted independently for vaccines which is contrary to eu rules. IF that is true there may be trouble ahead.....

I can't see Germany, Netherlands and France being overly happy about propping up the likes of Romania for much longer, either.

Does not surprise me in the slightest. Haven't the Germans always done what they've wanted and tits to everyone else?
