RELAX.....
....... I just saw a report on these intelligent catseye's on Sky news. Jaws was right - they are on test on a 3 km section of the M8, east of Glasgow.
They interviewed the technician bod in charge of the project and he said that their intelligence capacity is limited to monitoring traffic flow speed in general for the purpose of transmitting this general data to traffic control centre in order that they can slow down the traffic before it reaches the congestion (the catseye's will flash red) - in other words traffic management, like the units you see hanging off the bridges. Eventually, the catseye's would be capable of controlling the speed advisory signs, and turn on the flashing facility automatically.
When Sky pressed him on the issue of speeding spies in the catseye's he said there was not the technology to put number recognition devices in these units and nor were there any plans to develop them for that purpose.
