what difference

what did you feel different about your bike with it fitted???

6mm raises the arse end of the bike approx 30mm and help it to turn in quicker. gives the same effect as lower the forks through the yokes.

yep bike on centre stand take off seat, loosen nut infront of tank this will lower the shock, slide in spacer under the cross rail, do up nut, replace seat. 3 mins including putting socket back in toolbox

just to chirp in a min , i have had a spacer on my shock since i bought the bike , i have never ridden without it, but i was talking to someone the other day about touring and general things, he said i should remove the spacer if i am straight line riding as it helps stop the buffeting and helps with the life of the tyres. Any thoughts

removing it improves the stability, lightens the weight on your wrists, brings the head down and further back from the front of the bike out of the buffering, ( as aside point, stock screen much better for this as well as the wind lifts you back a bit ) also makes me feel that i am inside the bike instead of on top of it.

thanks Wolfie , i will remove it tonight and give it a go, just for the tour.

the difference when you remove as first is like uurrrgghhh don tlike this but i found it gave a more relaxed ride, but then again i left mine on for my ride the other week, also the wife says she doesnt feel like she is going to slide into me too much when i take it off.

i thought it was a 3:1 ratio ..... therfore 6mm will give you 18mm ...

time

I rode mine from 1998 to 2009 with no spacer. I had one fitted last April, so, one could say I was fully familiar with the 'birds handling characteristics after 11 years and the result? VERY noticeable ....... it still surprises me how it tips in better ....... I should have done it in 99 when a buddy of mine raised his with 2 washers .... I'm no scratcher or expert, but the spacer makes it feel lighter round the twisties ..... the best sub £10 upgrade surely ........

Yep....

there's always fookin one isn't there....;-0))

Well I am completely baffled !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why on earth would you wanna be messing with that bolt ?

Standard procedure is undo the top nut, reach under, slip the spacer in, re-tighten top nut !
Job done !!!
