Soup kitchens

...heard on the radio today....

The government are about to try and ban soup kitchens as they encourage the homeless and those living on the streets.

SO

Soup kitchens, that were established to give a bit of support and help to the homeless are now, according to the powers that be, a victim of their own success.
The idea is do away with them and it will solve the homeless problem :dunno:

That's about par for the course with this government..

and how much are they pledging to give for relief to the present tidal wave situation in the Indian Ocean region???

And before anyone rips into me for being insensative the governments of this area voted AGAINST setting up an early warning system similar to the Pacific Ocean countries only last year.

In Manchester centre, well on an industrial estate on the edge, there is a soup kitchen every night :lick: and directly opposite is a mobile needle exchange for the addicts. The idea is that the homeless & addicts can get be monitored, fed and health checked, if they exchange needles in the correct way then disease is less likely to spread.
I'm a bit bah humbug at this time of year for some reason and would consider helping out at one of these places next season, i would get more satisfaction doing that than sitting in the pub gloating at the greed xmas produces.

Top respect to you!

The infamous London Dome was converted to a "walk in" centre for the London homeless over Xmas and 4000 volunteers gave up their Xmas's to help run the thing

Just because someone is homeless doesn't make them a "waste"

There but for the grace etc etc etc......... go a lot of us!
