I've heard the phrase and I know that from personal experience that name calling can hurt more and have a longer affect on you than sticks and stones

I think this is true enough when young but in my experience as you grow older & a little more wise you realise words is just noise you are able to ignore if you want to, everyone is different & I know ignoring idiots may be more difficult for some than for others but if you refuse to let it get to you it wont

Failing that name calling around a mouthful of broken teeth seems to be pretty difficult for those that wont take the hint

I think what has changed from our youth is that social media has brought with it a platform for the sheep mentality to thrive, particularly, not exclusively, for the impressionable and easily led youngsters.

There are sadly regular cases where online bullying has led to suicide. The abuse that Jordan's disabled son has taken is simply appalling...while said mother is an 'interesting' character good on her for trying to get the law changed, perhaps more accurately 'updated', to try and address the actions of these idiots. What has her son done to deserve the crap he has been subject to??

I suspect that it's aimed at her (and let's face it, she deserves it most of the time). To put it bluntly, the abuse only upsets her and those who find outrage in other people's outrage... he has no idea and nor does he care.

When I spent a night at hospital with my granddaughter there was a young girl in the opposite bed who had attempted suicide due to online bullying, her parents were beside themselves with worry & didn't really know what to do, I ended up sitting up most of the night chatting to her while her mum took some much needed rest, she is a very intelligent, pretty & thoughtful kid who's only "fault" in the eyes of her peers was that she wasn't allowed to run riot late at night like the rest of the feral bastards from her estate

I was truly upset & angry to hear her story although why it was told to me of all people I don't know, I sincerely hope our chat helped in some way but I don't suppose I will ever know for sure
