well done

Well done on completing your CBT, you obviously enjoyed yourself. As a Direct access instructor let me give you a little advice please. Most people arrive for DA riding the bike but not correctly so most of the first day is all about teaching correct use of the clutch throttle and brake co ordination, especially the correct use of the rear brake as a control for slow riding especially around junctions, get this right before DA and the course will be much easier and more enjoyable. As you have your own bike you can do this. More time can then be spent on the road craft side of things taking you nearer to the pass that you want.
Contrary to what a lot of people think road craft and safety is a large part of your course, no disrespect to your hubby or any one else but ride like you were shown on your CBT and work on the spotting of signs, hazards and every thing else out there, don't try to ride like your hubby. Then it will go well, get too many bad habits and you only have a few days to break them. Enjoy your self.

A different reply to the comment about people being thrown out for being next to useless! A school shouldn't throw any one out of a course, they have paid their money to complete the course, a full days training, if they are not ready to go out on the road you bring them back for the rest of the course, it is not a pass situation but a constant assessment. You can of course charge for the extra training after the full day which is paid for. Not all schools charge for the extra some do.

Pink!!

Contrary to Coddy's posting, the day you see me in pink leathers or on a pink bike will be the same day they remove ALL the Gatso's.

Just off now to have a word with Coddy

Coddy typically didn't listen, not sure if thats a 'man' thing??

The two who didn't make it were not thrown out, the bloke was on a Honda 50 twist and go and the woman was on a CG125, they just were not allowed out on the road, one of the instructors spent more time in the training area with them helping them get used to the turns, indicators and, in the case of the 125, the gears. I think the poor woman was really upset because she had planned to do her DA almost immediately, the instructors asked what experience she had and apparantly she had ridden her husbands CB500 around the B & Q car park a couple of times.

Robbo - The other lady actually turned up in a revolting pink car (the colour was revolting, not the car) so she may be a candidate for the pink leathers and I would definately think she'd have the bike, the instructor and I were joking that she had to have won the car 'cos no-one would buy it. She also had a funny half moon Japanese helmet complete with goggles (it looked a bit like an old air-raid helmet but smoother). The instructor was lost for words but like a true pro checked it over and pronounced that she couldn't wear it because it didn't have any markings on it to show that it was UK legal. Would have loved to see her with it on though!!

Oh well, back to my theory revision :B

Minkey, I did say to Sharon only listen to the guys at the training centre, not to listen to me or do as I do, that way she 'should' be able to progress and do her DA without any problems, unlike me who did 2 years on a 125 and got the bad habits, that I struggled to get rid of for the test.

Have had my ear bent about not wording posts correctly  my apologies
