Serious advice needed......

For once I and another BIRD member need some serious advice....

A month of so ago now, MSW2805 posted about a fellow member that owed him some cash for some bits that he'd been sent, and I am also owed a significantly bigger sum of money for some parts that I too sent in goodwill, but after over 2 months of non payment......what do we do ?

We have both been reasonable and waited to hear from this member but after 9 weeks nothing.....

Advice needed on next steps to try and get the money back.....

I have tried to be patient and give him the benefit of the doubt....

i think 9 weeks is more than enough mate......i'd be knocking on his feckin' door by now.have you had contact with him via e-mail,phone etc?

lets be honest here...if he had any intentions of paying you,he'd have done so by now...or at least asked for more time if he was experiencing difficulties :dunno:

far be it from me to offer sensible advise, but I would write and explain that you have as yet received NO PAYMENT for the parts you sent, would he/she contact you asap, regarding the above matter within "say 3days" or you will feel obliged to take action to recover the goods or cash plus all expenses incurred, if no reply I would then take out a claim in the small court Jobie and go that route, you might also add that it would be "unfortunate" if other "members" of this and any other bird site were to find out about this "problem!"
and whatever you do give this person the chance to reply to your requests BEFORE naming and shaming as it may well be something simple like "lost in "T" post" :dunno:

His moby appears to have lapsed and no longer takes calls....

No idea where he has moved to......

And no, I would never name and shame...well not yet anyway.....

If you know the area he has moved to then try the electoral roll or telephone directories,
It is possible that there is a genuine reason for his non payment, it is also possible that he is a rip off bastard with previous for this kind of thing, personally I think you have been more than tolerant waiting nine weeks.
not prying into the amount of dosh concerned but ask yourself whether it is worth paying a private detective to trace him.

Yes, I thought I recognised the story. This is either a case of the person genuinely coming on hard times or they are a con person. If the former is true, why no contact to explain the circumstances. :dunno: I bought a pair of Givi boxes recently from someone on here. I sent the full amount and received the boxes by return as the person promised so don't let this get in the way of trusting people, or am I being too trusting?

In my experience of the people on this site, there are a lot more genuine trustworthy people than con men. however I have never met the person in question or ever had any dealings with him so I cannot comment on his situation except to say that 9 weeks is a long time for him to have goods without paying for them, if he is in a situation where he cannot pay for the goods then he should return them or contact the seller and try to come to an arrangement, that's just my opinion FWIW

I believe in trusting people....

For example - Jaws has trusted me on numerous occasions when he has posted items to me before I have even written a cheque - I firmly believe in passing this trust on.

I am hoping that there is a good explanation for this individuals lack of payment or contact (and by that I mean notihng health related) but I intend to find out for myself and Malc.

Yes Centaur, Rob did offer up the cash to Malc but IMHO no one should be stumpign up any cash to cover another individuals lack of payment....just passes the debt on to someone else.....

As you can tell I am getting pretty peed off that the situation has dragged on this long but I'll see how I get on once I have his address......
