I place an order with Screwfix on Wednesday 15th Sept, they promised me it would be delivered on Friday 17th Sept, just had an email from them, sorry missed the dispatch deadline it will now be delivered Tuesday 21st Sept, Phoned them up and informed them this is the second time in three orders that this has happened, I was informed that due to wharehouse changes the couriers couldn't cope, how the hell does wharehouse changes affect the couriers? anyway I have explained to them what a load of bollocks they are and I have sent off my email of complaint, for what good it will do. Anyone else have experience with this company??

For what it's worth~~~

I've used them a lot and they've always been "spot on"

Perhaps it IS a warehouse changeover?

The first time I used them I placed the order at eight o clock at night over the internet, and my order arrived at 10:15 the next morning, the second order I placed at 11 o clock in the morning over the internet, was promised next day delivery, three days later still no delivery so I rung them up they said that they were having a wharehouse changeover and my order had got lost, but they would get on to it immediately. five days later my order arrived, the second order was november last year so how long do these wharehouse changeovers take? The thing that pisses me off the most is that the things I have ordered are for a project that will make my wife's life a bit easier as she had to pack up work three years ago due to ill health, I explained this to the superviser at Screwfix, but he still refused to even try to get my order out before Tuesday, if this is customer relations God help us

Only one answer really - don't use them.

Does your local hardware store stock the same items - if so, use them

The problem there is that screwfix appears to be the only place that stock the sizes that I want also they are a lot cheaper than local hardware/DIY stores, I have no argument regarding the quality of their goods, I just wish they would be honest and not promise an impossible delivery date.

After sales service is piss poor

I have spent a bit with them over the past year or two and if you are careful what you buy they are OK. I bought a drilling machine from them for 100 quid, 3 year warranty and all that. I though, no worries.. After 3 weeks the chuck siezed and I took it off. It was Fkkd. After 3 e-mails and one phone call I have had no joy after over 6 months. Moral: buy your glue & screws and bits but don't get anything that can go wrong.

Could be right about the new warehouse, they've only just opened a massive one in Stoke, dunno if it's the only one they've got now.

They used to be a really good company (when they were privately owned) but they have gone down hill since they were bought out by B&Q a few years ago - and got bigger.

As many have said - pick and choose carefully - cheap comes at a price.

Yes they are having major hiccups with their new warehouse at Stoke. I ordered a load of stuff last week. First delivery contained one box of screws, one drill bit and the usual catalogue, all in a big box with loads of 'bags of air'.
Next day the rest of the order arrives (missing the invoice) complete with another catalogue, but with one wrong item. Phoned them up and they were happy to replace the drill bit.
Yes you've guessed it, next day a big box, one drill bit and another catalogue!

Oh, and another point that I've told them about dozens of times.

They used to run a TV ad saying that you coulfd call them free, fax them free, email them.

BUT

the telephone number is one that is charged at premium rates when dialed from a mobile. There is no normal 'land-line' number that you can dial to use some of your inclusive free mins on the mobile. (I run the business mainly from the mobile number)

And one more thing

when there is a product that you like, when you re-order they've change supplier and the replacement is crap

(the used to do a really good wall plug, Oh I like these so I'll order 10,000. In the maen time they've changed suppliers and the new ones are crap. :xm

The first order I placed with them was a stainless steel sink with seperate drainer, basket, chopping board, taps and all fittings, this cost just ?80 and was identical to the ones b & q were selling for ?240, and I was impressed the second order I placed was for approx 10,000 screws of various sizes, washers, nuts and bolts, when the order eventually arrived i could not fault the quality, my only gripe with them is that they say they will deliver the next day and then fail to do so.

PS if the wall plugs are crappy you can get some plaster coated swab things that you immerse in cold water then wrap round the plugs and then put them in the wall, leave for three minutes then you are ready to get to work, these are brilliant I used them in my daughters house.
