i've got a scottoiler on mine - i thought john had one on his too actually :dunno:

i've got the touring kit - it sits behind my number plate. bit of a hassle if you have sw-motech pannier rack fittings but mines ok.

i don't see why you can't have the normal scottoiler kit under the seat.

which kits are you looking at on ebay?

Can't be right

Did he mean the dual injector, can't be fitted.
Single one fitted to my bike and works OK

I would hope he didnt say that you couldnt fit them... He actuall sells them I seem to remember...

As for the dual injector... If you have a blackbird (most of have one on this forum for some unknown reason:rolleyes: *) You have to disregard the arm mounting instructions and use the picture I used... That way, the tips dont get ripped off every 50 miles...(phew !!!)

I will add the picture later when I find it, to this post...

But mine uses the touring unit & double injector... Works fine now :-:

Best wishes for the new year,

Rolfy

If I am not mistaken there is a write up on this site on how to fit one!

Single side one fitted to my bird, resevoir under seat, 26,000+ miles on original chain

and before anybody says that I must ride too slow and sensible, fancy telling that to the Judge in a few weeks time ?

Regards

apparently the touring kit is not reccomended on the bird, because they can half fill up with water, but the other options are ok, so thanks for your help lads man8um

I had a single tube fitted to my old Blue Bird and now have a Touring version fitted behind the number plate on the new one, had no probs with either one.
As for fitting, the blue one already had it on and the dealership fitted the new one (thrown in to the deal) so i'm not sure other than checking out R2B2's link.

I put a scottoiler on my 02 XX, I have the single tube kind (universal) it took me about an hour and half to do. I ran the suction pipe from one of the intake screws (supplied) and ran it up to the scottoiler in the rear area (sat above the rear computer box)
The gas tank can be lifted to do put the intake screw on.

I know 'STUEY' does or at least did run a touring kit on his BB, we spoke about the effect it had in keeping the pillion out of the rooster tails in the rain as it pushes the number plate out about 2".
I had the basic Scottoiler on my BB.

All I have always said is that the touring kit is not a recomended fit on the Bird .. And that comes from Scotoiler themselves..

Other than that I would never say that they cannot be fitted !

Mind you, I do think the Lube Tube is a far better option.. having that plastic suitcase on the rear is simply not for me ! :p

I mean, as far as I am concerned anything can be fitted to anything with enough Oxy and patience ! :p

Scotoiler themselves dont recommend it,, but only because the HCR behind the numberplate gets in the way when trying to put your key into the seat lock. Ive fitted one to my bike and just moved it down a bit. The dual oiler is ok if you dont use all the extension arms and mount it directly to the swing arm. The only problem I had was getting water in the HRC, so now I put a line of silicone round the top and sides of the number plate when I refill it and the problem is solved. I also used to put a little round the black plug that is on the side of the metering valve because I once used to get water in that too, but the nice people at Scotoiler sent me a new one that is a tighter fit and does the job.

Thats right John, the touring res does a fine job of keeping the back of the bike and Lainey clean without having to fit a duck tail. Mine is also fitted a little lower so you can get the key in to open the seat.
As for the twin injector set-up, always found that to be a little on the unreliable side, everytime I washed the bike I seemed to move the damn thing and ended up having to re-position it. I then switched to the steel plate/bracket that the rear wheel splindle goes through, which I find is alot more sturdy and I've had no problems since.
