Hi everyone heading up to Scotland for 4 days (16th May) with a group of us (7 -8) from work - various types of bikes me and lad on BB's, bandits, dullville, VN800 with my recent riding sabatical we shouldn't be blasting around and with the views up there no doubt lots and lots of stops.

Need some recomendations for decent B&B (with off road/secure parking that can take 7-8 of us twins triples singles what ever the configuration in Obaan (16th) Inverness(17th) and looking for either Aberfoyle,Balloch, Alexandria area (18th)
Will be contacting the tourist information points early next week as they might be able to drop us into a couple of B&B's next to each other in the same street

Rough plan is Widnes to Balloch Mon AM Balloch to Oban PM via Helensburgh, Lochgiliphead
Oban to Inverness via coast road to Loch Leven, Fort William, Mallaig, on and off Skye
Inverness to Balloch area via Avimore, Fort William, Tynburn, Dukes Pass Aberfoyle
Balloch to Widnes via Erskin Bridge, West Coast then across to Gretnar Carlilse, Lake Dirstict detour, Settle, Hawes, Clitheroe M6 Some long days when you take into account the stopping for jaw dropping scenes and hurding a bunch of dysfunctional kids let loose tanked up on smarties and fizzy cherryade

We stayed in 'The Tullie Inn' when we stayed in Balloch. Rooms were ok, food was good.

Only downside was because it was a weekend there was music on till the small hours which normally ok but not if you have an early start.

that's a bit of an odd route from balloch try tarbet -inverary -conal bridge - oban.
other than that the route you have is a bit long winded but has some good roads just remember that there are few petrol stations up north open on a sunday so top up dont fill up when you can

Cheers Ascar on our last day up there in 2009, 4 of us did the balloch -tarbet -inverary -conal bridge - oban - Lochgiliphead - Balloch - Widnes route so we're trying a different route this year but that could rapidly change depending on the Lunch break in the Tullie Inn or Balloch House on the way up on monday, had a few meals in the Tullie over the years so I know where that is. Will give them a ring to see if they have enough room in their lock up yard for the bikes.
Last time we stayed in Dumbain Farm (really great place) on the edge of town Taxi was only ?3 each way but they have a group of women staying Quilt steamstresses so not enough spare beds (no put your dirty minds back in the box) we are doing monday to thursday so petrol etc shouldn't be an issue and as one is on a Yam 600 with about a max 120 tank range can't see me or the lad having any problems - famous last words.

the Tullie Inn is only 8 miles from me and is easy to get parking around that part of Balloch

Hi

Can recommend this place:

in Inverness. Clean with most rooms ensuite and room round the back to get your bikes secure.

The owners are part - time bikers too [well he has a Harley]

Stayed there for years and keep going back.

Cheers

A quick heads-up for you... we've just come back from two weeks on Loch Awe and noticed pairs of plod bikes operating flying speed traps up and down the A82/A83, particularly between Ardgartan and Inverbeg. :xm

Me and a mate camped at Lagganbeg Caravan Park at Gartochraggan.

We were in a tent, but they had caravans, don't know if that's your cup of tea but it's just off the road between Alexandria and Dryman (nice little pub here).

We did a stint up the A82 to the immediate right of Loch Lomond which was a bit samey wide open road but then took a right at Tarbet staying on the A82 up to Fort William and it was awesome, great views, lovley roads and got buzzed by a few low flying jets.

Went to some 'Hog' pub in Fort William and had some boar sausages for lunch, and carried on to Spean Bridge before turning around because my mates hands were playing up in the cold.

Had to get a pic of Spean Bridge, my sisters ex is an ex Commando Sgt Mjr and led a walk to or from the monument, can't remember which so had to get a pic for him.

And don't forget to take in the B863 around Loch Leven, it was listed in a bike mag around the time we were planning the trip and it was a great road, only short, about 12 miles I think but worth doing.
