Is this a “SCAM” and also had lots saying that they will shut the phone down

Delete. If it’s brown and smelly and sticky, it’s generally not a smelly stick.

Wife keeps Deleting but more keep coming !
looking at her screen shot, is it possible to block and if so how ?

They seem to just show up when she swipes down to open the screen !!
don't think its a good idea to open one to see.

Who is your phone operator?

Between EE and Google any dodgy messages on mine are usually pre-identified as spam.

I can also report any message as spam which reports it as such and blocks the number.

Does the drop down arrow on the right of each message not give those options, to block/report?

ASDA have a phone network?!

On a normal message don't you get a drop down or menu that you can select to decide what to do with the message?

I'd have thought that would give options to delete/mark as spam/report as spam.

Disconnect the phone from both Wifi and 4G.
Delete the messages.
Reboot phone (proper poweroff and restart).
Look for the texts and block.

I thought the nails were nice as well.
