Woman in UK got text to remind her she needed to pay her TV licence.

She paid it on foot of text.
Then got call from bank to say she was scammed. She agrees to move money to safer account and never saw it again.

One person lost £90,000

Happening in Ireland presently.

When we first moved here we had a knock on the door, it was a guy from tv licensing & he said there was no record of a tv license at this address.
We told him we’d only lived here for just over a week, we gave him our previous address & he said he would change our details to our new address but we should have done it straight away & technically we could have been charged with not having a license despite us paying as it was registered to our previous address.
The guy informed us that there was no record of a tv license at this address for over five years, pretty bad considering the previous owner was a Lawyer who lived here with her young son, there were tv’s in all four bedrooms, one in the lounge, one in the conservatory & fold down one under the kitchen wall units (which is still there but never used)
