I have been trawling Ebay to find a sat nav for my son's campervan but the more I look the more my ignorance is exposed. Don't want bells and whistles ,just sommat that works and possibly will show where known speed traps are . Any advice would be appreciated or anyone selling to upgrade? :h

I have been using a PDA Hewlett Packard IPAQ in the car for the past year with TOM TOM software, I do about 50,000 business miles a year and find it easy to use (apart from not finding the m6 toll road!!) In fact I would find it really difficult to go back to a map.

I got one

I have a Garmin StreetPilot (not colour), I have had it for about 4 years and used it for trips abroad mainly on the bike but also in the car, it has various map and tracking modes and gives info down to street and house number level, it also has places of interest, no camera positions but you could enter these from the various camera partnership sites. York to southern Italy with only one wrong turn (I didn't believe the GPS!), it has displays for compass heading, position, heading to destination, eta, actual speed, average speed, driving time, top speed etc etc, it has a car power lead, pc lead (for plotting), a couple of extra memory sticks and a mount, it has all the manuals that came with it PLUS the full europe maps (OEM).
I am getting tomtom for my XDAII so no longer need it.
If you are interested you can can rob it grom me for ?175 (inc del), it cost me over ?400 with all the bits.

PM me if interested.
