Have just been told to get off the bike and remove my lid before i fill up.

I have a flip up front lid, but that is not good enough, i must remove the lid completely.

I asked why do i have to get off the bike and the nice lady told me that it is a health and safety thing, so i pushed a bit more and they have been told that, if the bike blows up while i am sitting on it whilst filling up with petrol, i would not be able to get away.

I laughed and ask if i am at the side of the bike , i would need to be between pump and bike to fill it up.

she agreed

i then ask her how fast could i run in the micro-seconds that it would take for the bike to blow up and how far would i get in that time and would the safety systems they have give me enough time to get far enough away from thier tanks and what sort of distance would i need to be to be safe??? would i be quicker getting off the bike or running around the burning bike??? cause i am sure as hell that i would not be running towards any pumps if there was a fire!!

Sorry but you have to get off the bike.

not her fault, but i think i will be goiung elsewhere for my petrol now.

PS filled the bike on the side stand it took 17L normally takes 18.5-19.5L so i did not even get a full tank by filling like so.

RHINO

Answering to nobody
I was told

To take my helmet off at our SAINSBURY's years ago and i told them to shove it!......they said it was rude..... I said that if i were of foreign appearance with a 'BIRKA' or however its spelt then that would be ok...

SO kids can go about with hoods up and caps on etc and these foreign buggers can walk about with a slit to look through but WE have to take our helmets off. :t

An ESSO station in Manchester requested i pay PRIOR to filling the bike recently during the daytime "coz its a bike and they ride off without paying", i kicked up a fuss inside and convinced them to change their minds.

Same For All Vehicles

So the same H/Safety rule should extend to all vehicles and passengers, shouldn't it ??????

If I go to Sainsbury's to fill up, I've probably just come from the supermarket and can't be arsed to remove the lid again. I went last week and had no problems with my full-face lid on.

Health & safety then? So why do F1 pit crew wear helmets these days when filling up the cars?

Several

issues raised here.

1. As Rhino says if an asian wearing a letter box visor heap of washing (Birka)buys fuel thats OK. But I have to remove my helmet?????

2. Paying for fuel before you fill the tank.... OK I pay by credit card so how much are you going to debit my card with before I dispense fuel? cos I'm sure as hell not going to give you my credit card and then walk out to the pump leaving attendant to copy card on his card reader am I?

Only thing to do is make it as awkward as possible for the staff and take up as much time as possible. If you are asked to remove your helmet before dispensing fuel fine.... then put the fooker on when you go to pay.. leave your ear plugs in so the twats have to shout.
rant... rant...

i got told the same thing at a jet station that i had to take my helmet of and had to stand at the side of the bike to fill up. when i asked why they said it was company policy,i then went on to explain that i was not getting a full tank of fuel the lad in the shop said it was because people drove of with out paying, i then asked do you make car drivers get out and stand at the side of thier car if yhe passenger is filling up .needless to say i now use a different petrol station.

To this day....

I have always sat on the bike when filling up and never taken my helmet off when going in to pay. Maybe I'm seeing how long I can get away with it. If it was good enough for my Instructor then it's good enough fer me. :f
