Went to my 6 year old daughters school play today. Before it started the Headmaster got up and said that as a few parents had asked him to, he would not allow anyone to video the proceedings. Are things that bad that you are not allowed to capture memories onto tape anymore in case they are used by the sick bastids in our society? A sorry state of affairs!

I work with kids quite a lot we produce an events booklet for the year, we used to have a lot of photos of children in it, now we can only show photos of their backs this is due to children & parents that have been moved / separated from their partners for safety reasons (so as the x can not find out where they are).
Hope that makes sense

Yeah, I understand the reasoning behind it - I just think it's sad that this has to happen.

Cool as a Cucumber
We sent out a letter to all parents to sign giving authority for photos and video two did not sign so were told that their children would not be in the plays and they were fine with that..

This started happening about 5 years ago here in Thetford..
Oh and about 4 years ago I was involved in producing a leaflet that had kids pictures in it..
All the pics had to be drawn from an archive that was approved.. Turned out all the pics were about 15 years old.. so all the kids were actually adults and had given their permission

Everybody's ok with it at our place. We do a question about it on the admission form..then don't bother again, except we do a reminder that photos and videos are for private and family use only. No problems so far.....but of course we're very behind in the frozen north

Paranoia. Get on with life. Too many interfering, busybody do gooders who are frightened of their own shadows.
There are certain elements that play on the perception that the world is a bad place and that all men are rapists and peodophiles. Just like all bikers are criminals.
Makes me so angry, I shall have to stamp my foot.

I agree that the pc brigade are taking things a bit too far, however in my job particularly at the type of prison Wakefield is I get to see the otherside ie paedophiles cutting pictures of childrens heads out of papers and magazines and sticking them on pictures of Kylies body, and then masturbating over them,
at one time they used to send for holiday brochures, just for the pictures of children, believe me only a fraction of paedophiles and perverts are locked up.

Obviously your right Derek, but in the same way, the streets are full of thieving scumbags ( with or without crash helmets on !! LoL ) .. yet most folk still wear rings and chains and use their mobile fones..
And we are repeatedly told how dangerous riding a bike is, yet we still do it..

What I am saying is that yes, there are def those out there who need their fookin nuts removing and stuck down their throats, but please god they are a small minority compaired the society as a whole.. yet it is to those that the PC brigade pander.

another nail in the coffin of Liberty. We are to believe that we are all at risk all of the time inluding our kids even when they are with us, all makes life easier for those who's desire it is to control us further with ever more draconian laws. The majority of people who come up with these ideas do it to get themselves noticed not to protect the innocent. :xm

Rant over.

My boys nyrsery originally banned phots and videos from his carol concert and as so many parents complained we were asked to give permision for it to be filmed or have photos taken. No parents refused permission so the event was recorded by just about every parent there, one way or another. What they did do was make it entrance by programme only and you could only get the programme in advance from the nursery manager who then wrote down which programme numbers had been issued to which person and you were checked in on the door. A bit long winded but better than than open house and no vids!!

A few months ago, i was an observer of a childrens football match based at one of the schools on the area i work. I was the photographer and 4 little girls came running up to me asking for their pic to be taken........ Without thinking, i took a number of pics then was immediately approached by a teacher who asked me what i would using the pics for... i told her for publicity purposes for the council and she told me to delete them as parents would not allow any pics to be taken of their kids... She said the school sent a letter out at the beginning of the term asking for thier agreement for any trips, plays, social activities...
This issue didnt even enter my head at all, and i have had no permission letter from my own sons school asking me. :dunno:

I do think its very sad,, and derek, i could not do your job, as id end up locked up myself.......... :shooter:

My daughters day care center have sent a flyer out to all parents asking consent for the photographer and his apprentice, (Are there still apprentices??), to take the offical school photos. Makes me laff is that its not just a simple yes/no. Theres an "Yes but no students" option. How the hell is this person supposed to learn his/her trade with the measures that where, and this is IMHO, rushed in without a lot of thought.

Think about this, whats the perfect job for a Phaedafile? Only works for two weeks a year and hundreds of kids sit on his knee.
