Sounds like you should have bought something other than a Bird. So, got time to do some spannering today, first job was removing the luggage, straight forward and no issues, and now on ebay, i did have to buy two new rear indicators but Jaws to the rescue and just round the corner from me (Thanks Karen)
Next up was the Scotoiler removal (Dont like em!) removed the oil res from behind the number plate and the pipework, all easy, then the fun started, the scotoiler take off from the carb was totally obscured by the thermostat, PITA to get at but managed in the end, trouble was i didnt have the original screw to put back in so ended up putting the Scotoiler screw back in and blanking it off temporarily until i can get the right alan screw and washer.
Fitted a Tony Archer seat i dropped on whilst at Jaws and also bought some other goodies, such as chain and sprockets, a new rectifier for spare as the original one still survives and with no issues! New MRA screen and bagster tank cover.
Next job is to remove the Oxford heated grips and digi gear indicator, fecking hate shite on bikes.
Then its ride, ride ride until autumn to figure out what or how else to improve it, its likely the suspension will be targeted then the brakes unless of course i come across a CBR1100 thats something special.
My last Bird had a digital gear indicator when I got it. Couldn't see the point at first but I grew to like it. Give it a chance.....
Why would anyone remove heated grips.from a bike? Unless they are a fair weather rider of course.......
