In light of the recent B1rdie episode, JAWS and myself have had a serious discussion about what "is" and what "is not" acceptbale behaviour on our forum community

We intend that the forum should remain unmoderated and therfore by definition uncensored, but certain boundaries need to be established.

We believe it to be unacceptable behaviour if :-

a] Any member makes any post pertaining/pretending to be someone else

b] Any member posts NOTHING but gratuitous abuse [accepting that banter and pi$$-taking is par for the course]

c] Any member shows clear signs of provocation and/or disrupting the very nature of this community

We remain committed to the principle that membership of this forum should be freely avaliable to anyone who wants to join and that basic membership remains free of charge

However, should these boundaries be clearly broken then our system would be to :-

Firstly - email the member responsible asking them to curtail their posting style

Secondly - email again asking them more firmly and reminding them of these boundaries

Thirdly - Suspending their posting rights

Anyone disagree with any of this - feel free to post on this thread

and if your "member can stand" then your a better man than me!!!

It includes everyone mate - remember that moderators are also "members"

It also includes using someone else's pc/log in details to make a "fraudulent" post

Must confess though that once I used Cyclops Shop PC to make a post in his name

As far as I am concerned that would be a no..
It once again indicates that person is trying to hide behind a smoke screen for some reason.
Whilst such a thing might be used for a joke it could easily get out of hand.. and its best if the same goes for all on here

...............may i suggest further rules for moderators.

ie. no messing with members profiles, post counts, polls etc.

Activities and access rights to be used exclusively for normal and reasonable forum admin.

I suggest that all admin is done from an admin sign-on so that bert and jaws or whoever can continue to participate with 'normal' member rights in the banter with their present sign ons with NO posts other than admin announcements coming from the 'admin' sign on.........................

Seems that we will have to make a point of meeting theses members that may not be who they say they are over the comming months..

With regard to DB's posting. I have to agree that admin rights should be used only for admin purposes. It seem that in the past these rights may have been used for other reasons, in jest of cause, but it has put peoples backs up and created unwanted tension within our comunity.

Trouble here is that whilst JAWS and myself have done our best to "moderate" forum activities...just seems you "old wives" won't let a simple concept rest

FFS does EVERYTHING have to be debated ad-nasuem?

I for one am getting mighty pissed off with certain peoples "holier than thou" attitude

Jaws and Bert have always moderated the forums to a lesser degree. Now unfortunately due to problems they will have to be more vigilant. Makes no difference?

The bottom line is of course, is that we should all moderate ourselves

Not being accusatory of folks identity from now on or folks private lives or persuasions, (accept Bert of course!!!!!)

Lets get this forum back to the fun one it has been since it started...........please????

Slightly 'off subject', but I thought this subject was covered when we 'lost' the Coffee Shop last year.

Standard IT rules are that everyone has a 'standard' sign-on. Those who have admin rights should sign-on as ADMIN or some other identity, only as and when they need to perform admin duties.

Just to set the record straight..
FB does NOT have admin rights to the forum..
He has Super moderator rights only.
I am the ONLY person who can faff around with anything at all..
For instance, when Samster suffered an attack of the wandering post total, it was me.. no one else.. just me.. Ok, there were a couple of others in the know, but it was ME that had to do it..
in the past I have ( at the suggestion of others ) been persuaded to make minor changes to peeps profiles as a bit of fun.. Once the joke was spotted said changes were put back to normal.
I have NEVER hidden behind a mask.. never fired up another account.. never posted in someone elses name..

Now I aint gonna change what I have been doing since the forum started.. If anyone does not like it .. well shame.. Cos like I said, I aint gonna change.

Those who have been around a long time will know I do not have an ounce of malice in me and would not deliberately upset a soul, but to be honest all this pedant nit-picking is really starting to piss me off..

The rules of the game are simple enough folks.. if you join the forum dont feck off everyone in sight within the first 10 minutes of being around ! .. Its really as simple as that..
No hidden agenda or anything.

AMEN to what mikew and Jaws have just said - I have only been on here just over a year - the reason I have paid up is that I have had a bloody good laugh at all the piss-taking , jokes etc. I don't even own a 'Bird! ( but would if I had the money) Let's get back to what it was a little while back - I even miss Lumpy and B1rdie having a go at each other - even though one of them was an arrogant prick!

I for one enjoy this forum as is. It seems to me that the 'new rules' are only common sense anyway.

Brainfade may have some unorthodx notions but so does Wolfie, imagine how dull this place would be without his contributions, others have their own individual talent for slagging off mates.

Isn't that what its all about, individuals tied together by a common bond.

It is sometimes difficult to know when the banter and piss taking ends and serious comment takes over, if you find it hard, try harder.
