Hi Gerry

Firstly, thanks very much for the mail.
Secondly, I found the small hole in teh splitter box didnt have a pipe connected at all. Re connected it, taped teh edges of teh air intake where the foam had come loose and now Ive got a bloody fast bloody smooth bike!

I'm taking it back to the dyno place for the 140 jets going back in and a rolling road tweak etc, then it will probably go to a new owner.

Thanks very much indeed for your help.

Fook me it's quick haha

How bad do I feel now
Bike sold a few days ago and the poor new owner looks to have a similar problem. Im just hoping its the tube off again or stale fuel.
Chris (z900guy) was letting me ask via him on this fault and I'm gobsmacked that it has a problem now after all we did and finally finding such a simple resolutuon.

At long last I was able to get both Blackbirds in the same place at the same time, and when I compared them, sure enough there are some plastic panels missing! I am short of the vertical panels that go down from the fairing infill panels down to the radiator.

I was going to quickly swap the bits from one bike to the other, but it looked like a bit of a mission and it was getting dark, so I did a quick professional bodge.

I made up a couple of panels from some flexible plastic sheeting that I had knocking about and stuck them in with some duct tape. Bish bash bosh, job's a goodun! No more misfiring! It runs a treat now!R#?

Thanks for all your advice peeps, especially to Alex who put me on the right track. It looks as though there was just far too much ram air going on. Next rideout, the tea's on me!!

I'm having very similar problems with mine. What are the panels you refer to? Do you know the part number or have you got a picture? Thanks.

Lee, see post No15, ignore parts 38 & 40 they're injection.

Could be part 9 they are on about or the flap at the back of this (maybe)...

You should see this if you remove the 2 front fairing infill panels.

Yeah, sounds likely. I'll pull it apart next weekend and see what I find, til then it's got more commuting duties to perform.

Check out page 5 of section 3 of the carb manual (3-5) shows a picture of one of the air guides a clear plastic thing that sits over the oil cooler pipe.

Carb manual? Do you mean Manuel Haynes? If so, I can't see what you mean....

Blimey! Cheers guys!

I'm pretty sure I don't have this part as I've take the fairing off before and I don't remember seeing it. I plan to pull it apart this weekend, so I can confirm it then.
