Riots close Honda plant

A Honda bike and scooter factory had to be closed down by police in India on Wednesday (July 27) amid tensions between workers and bosses.

The close down followed a day of rioting between workers and local police.​

Police set up road blocks across Gurgaon and Manesar on Thursday in an effort to control the situation, according to local reports. Bosses are adamant production has only been stopped for a day.

The disagreement was over the factory roof which the workers said was taking far too long to build.​

​

A spokesperson said this was only temporary and they had a source in the UK who had promised them delivery of a suitable roof at a great price, nudge nudge, wink, wink, no questions asked.​

​

Honda Japan have stated they want the situation resolved saspo as they intend to move production of new blackbird JPS special to this factory along with new technical department to study tyre pressure impact in differing riding environments.​

Honda India row calmed

The industrial dispute which brought production to a halt at a Honda plant in India has been calmed with the signing of an agreement between workers and managers, on Friday, August 1.​

The protest at Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Limited at Manesar in India?s Gurgaon district was over the condition of the factory roof, new production models, intended research and development, wages, an attempt to reinstate suspended staff and compensation for a dead worker.

Last Monday protestors clashed with police resulting in hundreds of injuries, according to India?s ?The Hindu? newspaper.​

Apparently the promised new roof is en-route (Ian quick, check your garden) as the promised UK source has been quoted as stating "sorted". The actual origin of the roof parts is unclear as they are being shipped from a remote Uk area known as "no fixed abode". When attempts were made to clarify the situation a G. Ypsy stated "the goods are in free circulation and not suspect to border controls".

Honda Japan have confirmed that following resolution of the dispute the new production facility will indeed be moved once they locate the missing test bike.

The new technical department however will not now go ahead as Honda say they have a new tyre technical team who say the ambient air temperature at the planned location would mean that all results would have to be lowered by 25% to correctly reflect the average price of tomatoes. Honda feel that they should understand this statement before investing. Apparently the new technical advisors are a Mr P. B. Ben, a Monsiuer F. B. Ert and a Hoppy from Derby.

Some of the news report is factual - some is....... well less than accurate but I maintain it's in the true spirit of journalism.
