Anyone remember the TV programme from a few years back.

Nick Knowles, along with a couple of guest riders on a variety of motorbikes, modern and classic, rode various ancient roads in the south of England.
One ancient road was "The Ridgeway".

Has anybody on here ridden this route and is any part of it suitable for attempting on the Blackbird please?
Or should I hire a van and take my XR250R?

Never ridden it but have walked most of it (many years ago!!). It is basically a track, very narrow in places too. Certainly not tarmac'd at all as far as I remember so I think you'd porobably be better off on the XR g0551p

Take the XR Roxxo. The road is the oldest in Britain, it's just short of 90 miles long and runs from Oxfordshire through Wiltshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.

It's most definately not Bird territory. These days it's full of Dad's with their kids on the little off-road mini-motos.

Recently the Ridgeway had been over publicised, and as such the bikers and 4x4 enthusiasts are getting a hard time over their use of it. There has been talk of it becoming a 'restricted byway', which is a real shame as up until recently everyone used it and were happy; walkers, the horsey people, the mountain bikers, the motorcyclists, 4x4 drivers and farmers. But now the ramblers have kicked off about damage to the land caused by motor vehicles.

Get the XR in the van and get down here while you still can!

Thanks for the info guys.

Well if Gary Inman can cross the Sahara on a road going Benelli TNT, should be no probs on the Bird, Cyclops.
