Much as I love to see machinery fully restored to pristine condition I am now in the ‘get it running/safe and leave alone’ camp.

What do you think??

I think the word ‘restoration’ is the key !
You can restore to new, restore to running, or restore in every stage between

I think of some restorations like Triggers broom, it’s the same broom just replaced the handle and head!
So a full nut and bolt restoration using new parts .. is that a new car ??
When does the vehicle change from its original to new ?
How much do you have to keep of the original vehicle to keep it original ???

Its only original once, years of knocks dings and wear but not abuse add to the value, restore it to as new and you have lost the history and all of the value in old things in my view, get them running and safe with the minimum of work (oily rag) and leave them alone before you destroy them !

No need for a poll here as i am correct as usual (y)

Ian, Sarah’s ex's Father used to restore old cars, he bought a wreck of a De Dion Buton & restored it, it ended up being used in the film “Fairytale, a true story” about the Cottingley Fairies (no, not a Football team) nobody could drive it so Ian’s dad ended up with a part in the film as the family’s Chauffeur.
