A supposed vigil for Sarah Everard (RIP) ends up going to shite as it turned into protests.

How come BLM were allowed to protest, and basically do what the fuck they liked, yet a vigil can’t be held for an innocent girl who was walking home and minding her own business but got senselessly whacked by some f’ing nutter?

The cynic in me is now asking would there have been such a large police presence if Miss Everard wasn’t white.

As we're supposed to be under lockdown and unable to travel unless you have a good reason then I'm not sure what these people think they're doing at a vigil anyway.
If folk are being fined for going a few miles up the road without good reason then what gives them the right to travel to a vigil..?
Do they have special immunity, I don't think so...

At the moment being a white male feels like being somewhere between Hitler and the Yorkshire Ripper.

A young lady losing here life so senselessly is a sad sad thing

I don't for sure why BLM were even involved but can only guess it was because of who/what the accused is, lets face it police and the coloured community don't have a good record from either side and this may have had a bearing on the number of police present

Apart from that I would rather not comment other than to say whoever committed the murder deserves to hang, but only if he can survive a year or two banged up with some of our nastiest criminals first

Women are not alone in worrying about walking home alone. I've walked the odd lass back home after a night out and was scared silly walking home myself. It's not only women who have to be careful or do men not count.

This has been the subject of much anger in our house the last couple of days.

We are currently in lockdown and the majority of us can't see loved ones close friends and go about our normal life

The poor girl didn't deserve to taken like she did and we should be able to walk the streets without fear, especially when this nutter is supposed to be one of the good guys... May he rot in hell and get what he deserves in prison

Now the contraversial bit... Firstly the girl had gone to visit a friend.... In lockdown... Secondly what gives these people the right to hold a protest knowing it was illegal under current conditions and the police were always going to do their best enforce the law... Imagine if they done nothing......

Boris and his feckin muppets have back tracked up their own arse'oles to distance
themselves from the police tactics that night, but it's the same tossers who gave orders to the bill to act accordingly regarding social distancing laws.
The police acted out these orders and
then get fooked over by their peers.
Sounds about right from a gutless and
clueless government. Wankers the lot of em.

I’ve often thought similar things but I’m not a small man and I can take care of myself.

From what I’ve seen in the news, it’s the feminists up in arms again. I’m beginning to think they’ll alienate themselves if they’re not careful. Reclaiming the streets would be a good thing but they must be safe for everyone, not just women.

And this is part of my point. BLM weren’t exactly stopped from protesting and their bullshit went on over a couple of weeks. In their defence, those that wanted to hold the vigil apparently had marshals to (supposedly) ensure people maintained social distancing.

As a woman I do feel intimidated when out walking and see a man doing the same thing. I was once on a train in an empty compartment when a man got on and came and sat next to me, he didn't want to let me get off at my stop it was only because my then boyfriend was waiting at the station that he let me go, it was a very scary experience.

Someone was talking about domestic abuse, I've known a couple of men in the past who were abused by their female partners.

No one should feel intimidated when out and about.

What happened last night was wrong, the people taking part didn't seem to care that there was a pandemic going on, and that over 100,000 people had died, the police were in a no win situation, I think the event was taken over by extremists, I doubt that the poor woman's family would have been happy with what happened.

I am 100% in favour of the cause.

But the vigil was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The organisers had been told it was illegal under Covid-19 law and a judge had told them the same in the clearest of terms.

The organisers backed out only as they were told they would be subject to £10,000 fines, whining that it would be ‘covid safe’ and it was ‘the police not working with them’ that caused the problem.

Hundreds of people turn up knowing they were breaking the law, not giving a monkeys about anyone else. From what I can make out is was all sort of ok until some numb nuts starting making a speech and there was a crowd surge to hear them which is when plod moved in. As soon as speeches are made it cannot be called a ‘vigil’.

Im not sure what a member of the Royal family thought they were doing when turning up during the day, particularly without mask, possibly another example of their advisors not doing their job and pointing out how it might be perceived.

As mentioned above plod are screwed whatever they do. If they had stood back they would be slaughtered for allowing a potentially ‘super spreader’ incident to carry on without applying the law.

The rest of the population that wanted to display support largely did the right thing by joining the widely publicised ‘doorstep candle vigil’ which is absolutely appropriate at the current time. Although police broke up a gathering in Brighton and made arrests, not sure why this hasn’t received the same ‘shock horror’ media coverage.

The LibDem leader (and others) calls for a Cressida Dick to be sacked. I have a question for him......if she had called you in advance of the event and asked ‘what should I do’ would you a) tell her to apply the law, b) ignore the law or c) find a reason not answer the question. My guess would be c).

As I said at the start, I totally supportive of the movement, but this so called vigil in the wrong place at the wrong time and yet another example of the ‘me myself and I’ culture that has become increasingly evident during lockdown.

If the same people had attended the same event to (say)legalise heroin the country would be screaming for plod to intervene. In the current Covid-19 environment no gathering is acceptable, however laudable the cause.

It really is that simple.

Pretty much sums it up.

As much as I'm not a fan of Cressida Dick, sacking her or calling for her resignation is not the answer.

Would you have preferred Jeremy Corbin and his mob then?

As a lifelong Tory voter, Boris does not fill me with confidence. He may be the best choice of a bad bunch, but that's not an endorsement.

Personally, in the current circumstances, I'd prefer it if they dug Maggie up and reanimated her.

I'm a lifelong Tory voter, too. One of the things about Boris that bothers me is his track record for telling Tom Peppers. Also, he does seem to enjoy taking the guidance of some pretty shady characters.

I was hoping Theresa May would be the next Iron Lady but she was way too soft. David Cameron should have stayed in office and he remains the best since Maggie.
Would you have preferred Jeremy Corbin and his mob then?
I'd rather Saddam Hussein than Comrade Corbinski, or Queer Starmer for that matter.
