Thanks John.

I've got more time than you. I would still like to see the unit light up so we can be absolutely certain that it is not the problem. Put it down to OCD! 8rfl@

After proving the light unit works........

a separate wire from the green/yellow terminal on the rear brake switch direct to the green/yellow terminal on the light unit will show where in the wiring the fault lies. @tu*

No need, Grant.

I'm just glad to use the skills the RAF taught me. No need for a new loom either, just check with a meter.@tu*

I should wait a day or so, Grant will be getting access to a new loom, or rather one on another bike, so could use that for a test :dunno: once his old loom is off it "should" be easy to trace where the problem is, given it's the loom anyway!! :dunno:

Do the tests I suggest, Ian and you may not need to replace the loom. :-0)

WEll, bit the bullet and ordered a second hand loom fron e-bay, I will replace the loom as when I got the bike the loom was cut where it goes into the reg rec and it will tidy it up a bit

Really pissed off now!

Spent two long days painstakingly fitting another loom

Same problem, Horn works, pass light works, indicators work, Two alternate rear light units do not work!

Sitting here very frustrated, as I intended to spend the bank holiday blitzing round Wales and my bloody MOT has expired

Tomorrow I will follow Centaurs excellent advice and do electrical checks (not my strong point)

If anyone has any further ideas I am very receptive!

If anyone wishes to come round to my garage tomorrow and help, I would be eternally grateful, willing to pay cash, Offer a go on my misses!

Whatever it takes

PS, I have several spare micro switches and rear brake switches, can I simply connect them and try manually without fitting them proper? and how can I check them with a multimeter?

Thanks again

Put the multimeter on continuity test ( beeps when both wires are touched together )

Put a wire on each terminal of the switch and see if it beeps.

press the switch and it should stop beeping

No, no, no, no, no, no, .....get the picture, Grant. :bang: Will you for fecks sake do the tests on the post where I've drawn a diagram or phone me to arrange a time to talk you through them. You really are trying your hardest to make this difficult. You've wasted your time and money trying one new loom to no avail. Fancy trying another new loom? Bwahahahahhaha. Phone me! :-0)

Don't be facetious ya twat. There is the possibility until proven beyond doubt that the secondhand loom could have been bought from some crafty ladyparts that decided to get shut cos his brake light wasn't working and fitted a new one...maybe a few more looms before trying out your suggestion eh.
