I'm looking at getting another BIRD but as I had to get rid of my last bird due to wrist ache (before the JAWS straight bar conversion was around) rumor has it that you have this on your steed so my question is before I go spending dosh how much difference does the conversion make.

In one word, LOT'S, I ride sat up a little, that takes a fair bit of weight off my wrists and arms, the angle of the bars is not to dissimilar if you sit in a chair with your legs slightly apart and allow your hands to fall naturally, this is nearly the position of the flat bars, they don't have you struggling in car parks as the bars are easier to turn, your not crouched forward as much, and if you want to give mine a try before you buy we can meet up some place, maybe Sherburn or similar,:dunno:

The bike can be returned to standard with no evidence that it ever had straight bars on it, unlike other "non Jaws" conversions that requre drilling ETC!!

Down points, they can be a right twat to "get right" occasionally with "some" bikes the cables may need re routing or replacing for longer one's, these however are available from Jaws MC, moving the bike backwards and forward, the angle of the bars could make holding them a little awkward if your short,:bang: though you get used to this quickly, you may find because they are a little wider you need to extend the mirrors out a tad, these are also available from Jaws MC, if you don't like looking at your elbows, I had mine prior to fitting the bars, as I like to see where I've been and all the Black bikes behind me in the distance!! :-0)

any other points for or against I'm sure "some" ex spurt :wank: will pipe up about, :-0)

Seconded.

I agree with Ian, the bars make a huge difference. I would definitely add the longer cables and clutch pipe by the way just to be safe as mine were marginal.

I agree with everything Mr Robinson says (for a change!).

After trying his bike at last years McBASH, I fitted that kit to my Bird last winter and its transformed it. I have said before it has made the bike ridable again because previous to fitting them, I had resigned myself to not using it for long distance, holidays, again because it was far too uncomfortable.

So this summer (I know it isn't here yet!) we toured the North of England for a week then a week on the West Coast of Scotland, totally different types of roads but the bike was impeccable.

I was lucky in the all cables were long enough so Like Ian says, always worth checking.

Otherwise, definitely well worth it.
