Just trying to gauge interest really.
I'm considering organising a mini trip around the Normandy - ish area, proposing to get the ferry from Portsmouth across to either Cherbourg or Le Havre.
Maybe sail early Friday morning and return on the following Monday afternoon/evening - ish.
Stay in some nice (quality and inexpensive) hotels, or B&B's, and ride a selection of good and varied roads with visits to a few sights.
Anticipated cost is circa ?200/?250/?300 - tops
Overall pace will be enjoyable definitely not excessive:eek:
Thats about it really, don't have any exact dates in mind and it would take 6/8/10 - ish bikes to make it happen.
What do you reckon:dunno:

Excellent idea Bob~~

Count me in?

No Formula One's though - decent hotels - decent food!!

I'll reserve judgement on the company to see if Lim Plump [OG] decides to attend!! [only kidding Mac]

Is this open to all or is it a quasi-exclusive Southern Pooftahs event?

Might be up for it

But SWMBO say's I can't go without her and the luggage!!!

Depending on when you plan to go may just go with you and then make a fortnight of it and go down south for some good twisties.

Accomodation

I have been looking at, and speaking with, owners of privately run hotels and B&B's and sought out places which have private and secure parking.

We could always sail late on Thursday night, sleep on the way over, cos you/we/us (!) could share a cabin with shower, and arrive fresh and ready to go early on the Friday morning:dunno:

Pete~~

these are familiar tactics of Lady Boy's [or so I hear]

Cabins are normally in Bunk bed style - so question is "would Bob want to be on top?"

LOL

Sounds and looks good Bob, if the dates and all equations fit in nicely, you can count Dawn and myself on that one:beer:

Hi Bob

Carol & I would be interested although we "did" Normandy last year. Stayed in Arromanches. This year Normandy will be packed, D - Day 60 th anniversary.
What about fitting it in with the French Blackbird Bash 11th/13th June in the Dordogne

Aah, if it clashes with D-day

I may not be able to have the time off, as one of my work colleagues already has the dates booked to accompany her dad - he goes every year but can't do it on his own any more.

Feedback

Lots of people have been in touch and it seems that either early August or early September are the prefered dates.
I'll keep an eye on what peeps say over the next week or so then I can start narrowing down names, numbers and date options.
The places and accomodation I have been looking at are excellent - value and quality - and have been discussing discount/prices/options of using the P&O ferry out of Portsmouth - this way we arrive in our destination plus have the option of sleeping on the crossing to arrive fresh and ready to go:eek:
I'll update you soon - anymore people interested:dunno:

Aug & Sep are better for us too. The French BB bash is the week B4 our airshow (subtle hint there peeps), so kinda busy then.
