PsychoBikerBen's first track day (at Brands)

PsychoBikerBen

Psychotic Artworker. RIP
What a fuckin' brilliant day!!!!!!
In fact-what a brilliant weekend.Saturday- had PaddyDougan (from this 'ere forum) come over from Holland and our mate Rob come down from Wales for the Streetfighters day.
Sunday, did the Ace along with my Sue and met up with Wolfie,Steve & Tracy,Dirty Sanchez and a brief hello to Dave T.

And then Monday.....THE track day at brands!

Did the day run by Focused events and at the start had the briefing. All the rules where well laid out and easy to understand.
And the thing re-enforced the most?.....WARM YOUR TYRES UP and as you should all know me by now , I think I've got the message on that one:blush:

First session I adoned the fluro bib just to let everyone know that I was indeed a virgin and didn't overtake a single machine.
After the second session I'd got the lay of the track in my head and Joe and Dave told me to ditch the bib as they thought I'd progressed enough to not stick out from the crowd.
As the day progressed I was really starting to feel a big improvement and was loving every minute of it....BIG TIME.
Joe & Dave where constantly keeping a eye on me and giving me good tips.
One of my probs was not getting my feet right back on the pegs but that was later sorted by the end of the day

Come the afternoon I was overtaking and learning the style of sertain riders.
Man,it feels good to overtake riders on the outside, especially when your aboard the lardiest machine,a Super Barge Bird.

On the last couple of sessions I even managed to kiss my right slider on Druids corner a couple of times and even though it was for a milli second and left no real scaring on the lump of plastic strapped to my leg,I was well chuffed and know what needs to be done next time.

Another major plus to the day was Lumpy & junior , the Samster , Sue and the kids-turning up and giving me moral support.Cheers guys-that was the icing on the cake.

Anyone who thinks drackdays are a dangerous thing to do and are under the impression that they're going to be boxed in by a load of dangerous kamakazi pilots - They're wrong.

JUST DO IT - MULTIPLE GRIN FACTOR ALERT !!!!

Again,I must thank Dirty Sanchez, DaveT, Russ, Sam, Lumpy & nipper ,Orms, Gats, Rob, Wolfie, Pierre, Steve & Trace, Jaws, Loobrush & Harpic and Ian & Tina - you guys have given me the best Birthday present ever and I'll never forget the 'losing of my virginity' to the track & it's all thanks to you guys.

My legs are stiff,I'm exhausted...But what a grade A rush!!!

I'll be doing it again......for sure!

Brilliant Ben~~

Amazing how/what you learn aint it? For sure will make you safer and quicker on the road

Well chuffed for you - and the support your mates showed by turning up and encouraging you - albeit that Sue does look a bit apprehensive

Fancy another?

?75.00 - all day - gotta be stonking value

Okay, there was much fuss caused when it was announced that the Rider Skills Day (track day as some called it) was canclled. All was not lost as some of the group managed to get onto another day run at the same venue, but that day is fully booked now.

However, we have the opportunity of running another on Saturday 25th September, same venue, same rules, same price (?75.00).

As before we need at least 40 bikes to make it happen, as before I cant post the name of the venue on here for contractural reason (and I ask please dont you either).

Now then, I already have 10 cheques from folks who wanted to be on the last one and will post a list of names below who have signed up to it. If however any of those now cant make it, let me know and I'll pull the name form this list and destroy the cheque (none have been cashed yet)

If you want to be on this one, let me know - allan.smith1@blueyonder.co.uk and your name will appear on the list also.

This list, together with monies for the event must be completed no later than Tuesday 31st August to get payment to the various agencies (track, Insurance, Instructors, ambulances etc..etc)

There will be one-to-one instruction from both pro race and police instructors if you want it.

Ben, I am jealous as fook too, so happy for you you enjoyed it to the max, and that the newly rebiult bird came out as beautiful as when she got on the track... must be this tyre warming tip you received - and your skills of course! w;;v

Ben~~

Track is a "private track" in the Midlands

Buzz calls it a "Rider Skills Development" day so that you're normal bike insurance could be valid and may cover you in case it all goes "titz up" [but let your insurance company know what you're doing] Mine covered it OK - but no liability accepted by me!! Check with your own insurabce company first

The circuit is of moderate difficulty with a super stick surface

Buzz runs the circuit clockwise for the 3 morning sessions - then anti-clockwide for 3 more sessions in the afternoon [evens the tyre wear up!!]

So at ?75 for 6 x 20 min sessions with free instruction if you want it [police or pro-racer] it's cracking good value

Only downsides [with it being a private circuit] - no camera's...no visitors....no loud pipes

Glad you enjoyed ya track day Ben !!!!!

Unfortunatly, the Ace Cafe 'Streetfighter Burger' took it's revenge in the early hours of Monday morning so for me it was more 'pants down' than knee down !!!!! :loo:

Thought that the burger looked a bit on the pink side as I was scoffing it..... but I was so fookin' hungry I thought it would be OK !!!! :} :}

Sos we missed ya track debut...... but we'll be there next time.
