Protect yer vulnerable bits...

Dark Angel

Still kickin' it!
I remember reading somewhere on here about some self-adhesive, flexible plastic that you can buy to protect the paintwork on the bike (eg mirror backs, and other bits that are open to abuse). Anyone know what the stuff's called, or where I can get some? I was thinking of trying it out on the front fork legs to see if it will stop the ugly pitting that appears after a few thousand miles.

Any ideas?

that clear stuff that you used to have to back your books with at school would do the trick i reckon, damn sight cheaper than the other stuff too i reckon, it was always pretty solid stuff on the back of books, stood up well to compass spikes and things!

What U need

3M's Scotchcal:

http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/...us_aad_3_0/command_AbcPageHandler/output_html

http://www.invinca-shield.com/asp/genkit.asp?kit=HNDA-2

Or DIY

http://www.xpel.com/ then try 'products' then 'bulk'

e.g.s http://www.triumphnet.com/st/acc/3m/

Also search for "Paint Protection Film"

Damed expensive, difficult to get in the UK, applied wet with a water alchohol mix, removes without a trace, is damned brilliant, have had it on my last 3 cars and 2 bikes!

Thoroughly reccomended

There is a newer / clone product called 'Venture tape' a bit cheaper but don't know if its as good as 3M's

Happy hunting.
