I can't believe the difference in the price of our bikes from country to country I have been reading some of the threads and it seems that most of the guy's in Great Britain pay a whopping 8,000 GBP so I looked up the prices in Great Britain Australia and the USA

Listed on Honda UK 8,399 GBP (23,474 AUD)

Listed on Honda Australia 18,490 (6,614 GBP)

Listed on Honda USA 10,999 USD (6,847 GBP 19,168 AUD)

of course that does not include on the road, govenment or dealer charges.

just as a matter of interest what did you all pay.

I paid 15,9990 ride away thanks to Rossi, Edwards and the like honda Australia had a sale.:}

Jack,
We're kind of fortunate in many places here regarding good riding weather and generally, folks simply don't want to ride in weather that you all would probably laugh yer asses off about us avoiding. As a result, the prices of bikes can really fluctuate as a function of that and where the dealers are at in the "model year". The $10,999 (USD) price here is not solid, by any means and you still see a few dusty-covered ones on the showroom floor for that because the particular dealer will not move on the price. Recently, there have been a couple of spankin' new Birds advertised for $7995 on the West Coast and many dealers offer "Internet Deals" which are pretty good if a reliable dealership is involved and the bike isn't set up by trained chimps. I couldn't wait and bought my 2002 toward the end of riding season this year, so payed a bit of a premium for my impatience to ride, but still managed a deal of $10,300, out the door, with extended warranty.

Having once, in my youth, bought a new bike, I learned a valuable lesson and decided never to do it again...
So I cannot give a 'new' price which I paid, but when I bought mine, it was an ex demo one from the local dealer, with a couple of thousand miles on it and not quite a year old...
I paid 5,700 GBP ( at the time of purchase, that would have been about 8700 USD ( sorry, do not know what the AU $ rate was back then ).. And believe me, it was a bargain at the time, being about 800 GBP behind book.

The price of a full power grey import (mine was a '99 UK model) in Japan is always around 1,200,000 yen, about 6875 quid now, but 5500 quid when I bought it as exchange rates were going crazy. This was from a genuine Honda dealer and including the mark up for the middleman in Singapore and export/re-import freight charges, so you know your getting screwed in the UK.

In S.Korea it's about 7500 quid then registration is a staggering 380 quid, but quite a few people don't bother. Import tax is very heavy here on imported vehicles in order to protect local industry (but they don't make anything bigger than a 500cc :dunno: )

Bought mine from a local Honda dealer in aug 2000 full u.k. bike with Hondas AA roadside assistance for ?7200. Import bike was ?200 cheaper but at that time dealers were not helpful when it came to warranty work. Although can buy them from Southern Ireland in euro and take advantage of the currency difference.

I just paid ?1725 for a 1999 EFI with 11k on it and a Yoshi RS-3 chucked in, it had been through a hedge and then been stood for 6 years, but the guy I got it from had put it all right with mint bodywork and Galfers...though hadn't yet sourced the ram air ducts that had gone missing. Still it's got a years mot and a couple of months Tax...seems good.

I paid 10k for a brand new black carbed model with full 4-2-1 Akra system and the latest datatool alarm. Honda reduced the price by a grand a month after I picked it up.

Last August, I paid 6k for a two tone silver injected 'bird, '57 plate with 6,500 on clock, full factory colour coded panniers plus the natty little red cover bags, tank cover thingy, rear hugger, tracker and datatool stealth.

I paid $2800 for a 98 Bird with 1163 miles with a full Yosh system W/Carbon Can, K&N filter, and a crap Dyno Jet kit. 40K miles and 14 months later I've had to get new float valves (all 4) and tires (3 sets) replaced the slides with undrilled ones and rejet and rejet and rejet to finally get it to run right.

Got my '99 Carb for ?2200 a couple of months back. He gave me a spare front Tyre, the original fork springs (no idea why) and a full service history. Decent alarm immobiliser fitted and a custom paint job I like.
Jaws has since told me I have efi front-end too. I'm not sure if this makes it better or slower.
