Been to Austria the past 2 years on my old bike(maybe that's why I've got a B/B now?!),and twice in the car. Amazing roads and passes. We stayed in Lermoos in Sport Hotel Loisac.......if you're into treating yourselves then this is the place, has pool, sauna, gym and is run by some very nice folk.
Can't help on the Stuttgart thing but if you are there it's well worth going to the Mercedes museum....amazing place.

Ok then,

Can you recommend a good half way point between Zeebrugge and Munich,
I'm after a medium size place with plenty of local places to eat / drink, have stayed in Trier several times and like it. I think I want to go a little further than Trier this time.

The only place I've stopped on the route between Zeebrugge and Munich would be Wurzburg, we were camping but they gave you breakfast which was a wee bonus.
I assume it's B&B's and Hotels you're looking at staying in??

Hi John

My initial thoughts were to go to Baden-Baden through Belgium, Wurzburg looks a little north to me, why did you pick that there and did you travel through Holland? My satnav gives a northern route through Holland and a route through Belgium with roughly the same travelling time. I am happy to use either , the quickest preferably. What route did you take from Wurzburg to Munich.
I will be looking to stay in hotel / B&B.

We stroled down from Amsterdam after getting the ferry from Newcastle so YES we did come through Holland.
If going for B&B just go with the flow.

place to stay

How about Hockenheim via Brussels / Leige /Treir / Ramstein air base / a61 south / a6 /a5 / and onwards towards Stutgard but stop off and see the track. ? then come morning south on 5 to Stutgard left onto 8 and onwards to Austria , down the 7 at ulm to the border at Fussen . Throught the Fern pass and left to Innsbruck or right to Landecker and the Stelvio. Treir to Pfunds on the reicher pass south 7 .5 hrs .@tu*

Not sure what planet Ubertours is on ( apart from believing they can register and use the forum as a free advert ) but Stuttgart is a comfortable unstressed 6 hours from Zeebrugge ..

However, I personally hate the bloody place.. It is possibly my least favourite cities in Europe.

Hard to get round, hard to find ANYTHING and hard to get out of !

However............

Sinsheim ( on the A6 and not too far from Stuttgart )is an excellent destination for bikers or indeed anyone interested in transport of any kind

There is one of the biggest transport museums in Europe there, with pretty much everything from trains planes, cars bikes and even space vehicles !

There is a Formula 1 somewhere close ( canna remember where as we have been using either tents or as in last year, the motorhome with a bike on the back )

But it is a worthwhile stop off and not off your route at all
