We are being told, that to stop the spread of the Corona virus we need to carryout good hygiene. Does that you think apply to customers who when getting money out of their purse or wallet, lick their fingers

I would imagine that the average note is riddled with all sorts of undesirable stuff.

I know the old paper ones were, maybe the new fangled plastic stuff is better?

Would you prefer them to lick your fingers instead? :)

the new plasticky notes tend to stick together I’ve noticed.

When my wife worked on the wards, one of her duties was Hand Wash Monitor (can't remember the official title but it was part of Infection Control), which meant monitoring ward staff usage of hand gel dispensers, handwash sinks and the correct methods to washing hands.

Have a guess who were the biggest culprits when it came to NOT following procedures.....

Yep.....Doctors. Not only that, they were the most resistant to being told to do it correctly, in many cases they were rude to her and in one case a doctor put in a complaint against her (which was rejected) as she reported the doctor for carrying her handbag around the wards (the doctor was disciplined for it).

I wonder if things have improved lately...?

I would worry about touch screen technology contributing to the spread of any virus...phones, pda's, photocopiers.
The worst one is in your doctors surgery and hospitals, the touch screen patient check in. Amazing to think how many diseased ridden peeps have touched that screen before you.
Not to mention door handles.
Feckin barmy.

I’ve never seen a door handle touch a computer screen

Hand gels are not what they’re cracked up to be. A friend of mine (oncology nurse with over 40 years nursey type experience) said that whilst they kill most germs, they don’t kill them all and the residue forms a layer that traps them against the skin. She said there’s no substitute for a proper wash with soap and water.
When thinking it through, it makes sense. Before surgery surgeons don’t use a hand gel, they scrub with a brush, soap and water.

One of our friends is a phlebotomist/blood sample analyst yet has a kitchen sadly lacking in hygiene standards. In fact it is pretty disgusting.

Maybe she knows something we don't.....

Don't get me started on the amount of people that don't wash their hands after ablutions.

Or public toilets with doors that open inwards.

My missus was told similar when she worked in physio. No more than 5 consecutive applications of hand gel and then you must wash your hands and start again.
