And landed on her feet .Odd name for a girl, glad she's safe though
Actually 4 dimensions when you think about it, because time must be factored in as wellThis stuff always amazes me. The navigation alone...millions of miles in three dimensions with everything moving at different rates and in different orbits. How?
The brilliant application of mathematics, mind boggling. This stuff always amazes me. The navigation alone...millions of miles in three dimensions with everything moving at different rates and in different orbits. How?
Plus calculating the effect of gravity when they slingshot round planets to accelerate.Actually 4 dimensions when you think about it, because time must be factored in as well
I have a brilliant book (‘Hut 6‘ I think) about how the Enigma code was broken in WW2. I could actually follow it ........for about ten pages, the next 150 or so were beyond me, but still a cracking read ..........if you are an insomniac. The film " Hidden figures" gives some idea of the mathamatics involved in bringing an object in from orbit to landing...truely way above most peoples head !
I am not joking here.. My nephew ( works for a gvt dept.. all hush hush ) is one of the mathematicians who works out such things... clever bloke to say the leastThe film " Hidden figures" gives some idea of the mathamatics involved in bringing an object in from orbit to landing...truely way above most peoples head !
Not sure if you are aware John, there have been other landings on MarsAnd already sent back first images
What a fantastic success story,... certainly something I never expected to see in my life time
Yes, but not to this level !Not sure if you are aware John, there have been other landings on Mars

still brilliant though!
Yes it is pretty extraordinary. Didn’t realise they are collecting samples to be retrieved and sent to earth by future missions.Yes, but not to this level !
