Parking question

As I'm sure you all know, it's an offence to park with one or more wheels on any part of an urban road other than a carriageway, for example, on the pavement.

If you park in the vicinity of a market and there is so much cardboard around that you are actually parked on the cardboard, and no part of your wheels is actually touching the ground, does that count?

By the way, for your, read mine; and for you, read I.

Since I joined the ranks of the chelsea tractor brigade, I park all four wheels on the pavement. Closest it gets to being off road.

Obviously I am far from expert in these matters but I believe you will find that a bit of cardboard twixt the path and the wheels will do nowt but get you nicked !

Now if you remove the wheels, put the thing up on paddock stands, you may well argue the point ( I think you would still lose as it is still a vehicle albeit a wheelless one ! )

if you park on one of those "windows" set in the pavement found a lot around London, you will get away with it as they are private property and NOT believe it or not public highway!! however, you will still be leaving yourself open for prosecution for riding/using the pavement to get too the bit of private property!! :bang:

I canna remember who it was ( one of the London lads, Reefer, Superbob, dunno... ) but about 4 or 5 years ago someone got nicked for parking on those glass bits.. Fought it on the grounds private property.. The fact that people walk on them daily means they are a public right of way for FOOT right of way. The fact you have to cross a pavement ( even a kerb ) means you also broke another law ( dunno which one,,, might have been a by law for all I know )

This is all in the dim distant past and sorry to say I cannot remember the details.. perhaps someone else who was around back then can help out ?
