if the "new pan " is Tefal coated i would think youd get more for that than your Bird!

hope this helps

Richard you toss pot~~~

I KNOW that!!

We're talking about proper bikes here!!

Followed a Pan last weekend - despite the bulk - it could corner and handle and whilst not as quick as the BIRD on acceleration it was certailnt no "slug" - unlike Gippo!

Just looking for a bit more comfort and less wrist-ache [cue even more abuse]

Dont do it I had one whilst my bird was being fixed about three weeks I seem to remember, but it felt like years. I totaly hated it, it felt as if my right hand was telling it to do things and after a few moments it started to do it. Going round the bends on the M5 J1/3 as I went over the strips joining the tarmac together it lurched wide all the time at anything over 80 whereas the bird will do 120 easily over the same piece of road. The worst was how wind caught the bike and took it off course, however it was wonderful at very low speeds , so for filtering (as long as it wasnt windy) it is perfect. The last thing was the noise it made as you opened it up,it was a bit like a hippo with piles farting after a night of Guinness, Vindaloo and being rodgered by a bull elephant. :puke: :puke: :puke:

i doubt if you could ride the Pan bert, stick to the bird mate, is lighter for starters.

I like mine !!!!! :lol: :lol:

M11 today with 40 mph crosswinds....steady as a steady thing on steady pills !!! But with me and Trace on it we may have a weight advantage which added a bit of stability. :} There's too much slack in the throttle cable as standard.....twiddle the adjuster on the 'bars and the response improves no end. For speeds over 80mph I dropped the screen to it's lowest setting and it seems to hold a line very well.....Bridgestone 020's fitted and the rear shock wound up a little.

The engine noise ???.....can't argue with that one !!!!! Trace reckons it sounds like a super-scooter but I like to think of it as 'refined V4 purring' !!!! :}

So what is my riding style then Slimo?

Not your surely?

Your riding style is "Had to stop in the layby to adjust the Ohlins - couldn't manage it so now it's up 4 sale" Drama Queen

Pan

Bert,

Friend of mine has a 1300 Pan, his only adverse comments are that the engine gets damn hot in traffic, and the fans blow VERY hot air onto your legs, and the bodywork gets damn warm around the radiator area. He also had his recalled to replace the sump pan (no pan sorry, pun, intended :rolleyes: ) as the first batch suffered from a weak pint that if you went over a speed bump a bit sharpish, it could crack the sump very easily, but I would imagine that any new bikes have been sorted.

Eats tyres if ridden hard.

Other than that, no problems.

(Oh, yeh, fooking ugly, but thats my opinion ... bearing in mind how ugly a Vstrom is ..... :puke: )

You bad bastid Bert !!!!! Here I am.....typing replies to you on two threads.... extolling the virtues of the Pan......offering you a go on me bike to see if it suits ya......and you now tell me it's a wind-up !!!!! :}

Oh.....negative point.....the paint is as soft as the shite Honda use on the 'Bird !!!! Proof of this can be seen on the left hand pannier where 'her indoors' caught her Oxtar race boot on it while dismounting. :B
