A major cause of colds is people travel in cars with the heating on, they then get out into the cold, they go into shops which have the heating on then back out into the cold, it is the sudden change in body temperature which causes colds, that's why all year round bikers are healthier than fair weather riders and car drivers.

The body is more prone to virus's when they are subject to sudden changes in temperature.

Yeah and you can also get a cold from putting on a damp vest and going outside with wet hair........ everybody knows that!

Yeah but Virus's can only, by definition, survive within a certain temperature range.
So if you are out in the cold, you ain't likely to get one. It's when you go in the nice warm office that it gets you.

Wonder if people in Greenland and Alaska suffer colds?

You've never seen Father Christmas sneezing.

Yep.
Im just practicing on you though:f

I had a meeting at work today to try to get back to a desk job:eek:
Ive been off for over 4 months now and me head is ferkin bursting.
I really cant "do" in the house!
Had a meeting with my orthapoedic consultant yesterday. on the work issue he asked what I do (did?)
When he heard the words Prison officer (and that I have been posted in the segregation unit for the past 5 years) he asked how well "they" are taking the prospect of a desk job. Followed it up nicely that "your young and bright enough to re train as I dont see you on the shop floor again:eek:

SHIT I love what I do. but Ive enroled in the CIPD, certificate in training practice course, starting next month. I checked out what madical retirement would pay:bandit: .

To top it off The police inspector who dealt with my accident rekoned that the prison service was the same as the police service in that as I was travelling home from work I would be covered as if I was working(section 11 in SPS ie 85% of salary as a pension plus lump sum) thats over 20k a year.
Not so Im told by Caring SPS your on your own as soon as you exit the gate.
Should have been a fooking copper after all.

Anyway thats another thread hyjacked:} and as for pedantic? Me?

Youll get over it :k

By the way, I start back on 28th November duties to be aranged.

  • or any mix of the above......
