I've been asked by a new biker to fit heated grips to his Honda CB500F. Any tips specific to the job in hand would be welcome. Been a long time since I fitted any grips.

Firstly before you fit them, offer them up to determine where the lead needs to point, most notably for the throttle, you don’t want the brake lever to foul it at any point, and it needs to assist the throttle closing and not keeping it open. Keep the bike level on its centrestand, if fitted, so the glue doesn’t run into the throttle.

Oxford or Honda?
Only problem I had was not pushing one bullet connector home on Honda one.
They were working intermittently and it took a bit of checking to find it. It had been arcing and was a bit black.

Honda wiring was crude, not a loom type set, just bare wires.

There was one extra wire needed in Honda set which Honda Dublin left out and then didn't know what I was talking about.
Previous set was a present and came from Belfast Honda and was complete.

Read instructions several times- I always find instructions much easier after I have the job done:)

You can slap them straight on to the battery Bill as they are auto cut-off ( which is why I never use them cos the cut off voltage is set too high to my mind, and on a Bird will cut out every time you stop at bloody traffic lights ! )
