Overtaking on the inside

Hands up all those that do it.

when your making good progress doing a bit of distance and some tw@t decides he's going to impose his own limit on the outside lane, you try moving closer to let him/her know you want pased then give a flash of the beams and still no movement (clear inside lane for some distance on a straight). Would you go inside (hand gestures optional)?:wank:

yep, especially when they've nothing on the inside lane for the next 3/4 of a mile - I feel like dragging them out and asking exactly why they are sitting in the outside lane - and pointing out that if they are so blind that they couldn't see me moving around behind them in their nearside / offside / rearview mirror then perhaps they shouldn't be driving at all. This is a daily occurance on the M20 and even more so on the A249 over Detling - total bunch of :wank:

Must admit I undertake frequently especially on the A55 (two lane dual carriageway) when heading home in the cage, I just cruise slowly up the inside. I really cant understand people who sit in the outside lane usually far too close to the car in front when the nearside has 1/2 mile of empty road.

Ive even had the situation where I'm on the nearside of a three lane motorway and undertook cars in the outside lane with naff all in the middle lane, I wonder what the legal situation is then????

Highway code states something like.

Stay in your lane if traffic is moving slowly in queues. If the queue on your right is moving more slowly than you are, you may pass on the left.

Lane discipline 238: You should drive in the left-hand lane if the road ahead is clear. If you are overtaking a number of slower moving vehicles it may be safer to remain in the centre or outer lanes until the manoeuvre is completed rather than continually changing lanes.

I would miss out the stressful stages of tailgating and flashing and go for the "filtering" manouver to the left almost every time. :yo:

Yep - I do it all the time. You just don't get anywhere if you don't. The lane 3 owners club is getting bigger all the time it seems.

Hmmmmm - told by a policeman at bikesafe '...there is no specific road law against passing traffic on the left-hand side on a motorway providing the traffic (in the right lane)is moving at less than the posted speed and you don't change lanes or exceed the posted limit to complete the manouvre...............'

I do it when the fooker wont move over, the inner lane is clear I'm sure they think I'm doing the max legal speed limit so,it's ok for me to stay here and stop others breaking the law(twats)
I tend to steadily pull up on the inside just in case they decide to pull in on me then as I'm nearly level with them squirt past quickly.
They sometimes sound a horn over here in Wales(which I ignore)welsh TWATS
