Looking at one of these for winter storage, what do you think ?

I will fix it to a wooden base under my carport and put my greenhouse heater in it too ? Ground anchor already in position.

And if you're using your greenhouse heater how do you expect to keep your veggies warm? :blush:

what TYPE of green house heater is it?? I ask as it was pointed out to me "in no uncertain terms" :rolleyes: that they can cause "soot" moisture and other associated crap not conclusive to a happy bike!! :dunno:
you should be better off just leaving it under the "Workman's" tent you've shown!! :}

Those things really are excellent .. But do not use a greenhouse heater unless it is an electric one.. Personally I would just use a 40 watt bulb in an upturned biscuit tin.. Nice dry heat as opposed to parafin or gas which are both wet heat sources

I've heard nothing but good things about these types of covers but like Jaws says if you are going to heat it, it needs to be a dry type of heat, definatly a good investment though.:yo:

A tube heater is another good bet for a cover like that. They are as cheap as chips to buy and run. I use a six foot one and lie it under the bike diagonally - I think it's 125 watts? Just provides enough warmth to keep the damp at bay.

screwfix seems to be the cheapest so far and I've been looking all over, :dunno: but I'm happy to be proven wrong!! :eek: as long as who ever does find one cheaper lets me know where!! :rolleyes: :}

rob, where would you get a tube heater from?
I actually got mine from a trade catalogue (a mate has a business), but you can get them from any electrical factors such as C.E.F etc.

Or like Ian says - Screwfix direct.

They come in different lengths - the longer, the more heat/wattage obviously.

I like 'em cos they appear to be safe to leave on for long periods.

Good luck.

Well I went ahead and bought one. Luckily enough they put one on EBay and saved myself ?40. I spoke to the guy over the phone after I had bought one and said how hard they were to find so suggested they might improve there advertising etc but what I am trying to do is negociate a discount for any forum members that might want to buy one, watch this space.......

If it seals good enough for a heater to work inside then surely a de-humidifyer would be better :dunno: :dunno:

I need to get a base for it rather than bolt to the deck. Will get myself a supply of Marine Ply and attach to that. I will then see how effective the heater is as its only a 100 Watt one, just enough to take the chill off when I am in there too !!

Tube heaters

are best because they are a dry heat source (as John said). My beter half has a cattery and all the cat houses are heated with tube heaters, bloody good and also cheap to run. We bought loads from good old Screwfix as they were by far the cheapest, even our electrician couldn't find them any cheaper. Like the bike tent, by the way, makes me a bit pissed off that I spent ?15K on a fucking purpose built garage - with underfloor heating, all for my bike!!!!!!!!!! She didn't speak to me for six months, go on guys try it, the peace and quiet is lovely!!
