I noticed yesterday in a shop a book called Fast Bikes. This was a very large book putting a collection of bikes from the past to the present together.

Now, obviously the Bird was in there in all its glory, but what was very interesting was..........and I draw your attention again to the title of this book..............FAST BIKES the bird they showed was a............... TITANIUM bird.

Hmmm.........interesting..........:neenaw:

Hi B.I.F.

The reason that they were showing a TITANIUM Bird is that the book was called FAST BIKES.

Had it been showing a BLACK bird it would then have been called

FASTEST BIKES.

need I say more?

Happy new year.

I still think the best way to settle this colour/fastest nonsense is to put one of each colour and their champion riders in a skip and tip the lot off Beachy Head. First one to the bottom wins! Any takers?

I Nomiate

Yep you guessed it:lol:

Fat Bert:f

5 good reasons

1: Hes got a Silver Bird ?
2: Hes got a Red Bird
3 Its proberly black under all the paint anyway.
4: Bert would be Black and Blue when he landed at the bottom.
5: It would get rid of the old Twot for a day or two.

Lets have a vote for throwing FB off a cliff then.

I think I have the book in question, if it's the one with the bird on the front cover?

It's a fairly old book, so may have been published before they had the final coat of paint on it?

O' dear.. O'tut....

Refering to the treads original post.... yes titanium was the fastest colour that long ago when the book you refered to came out.... However since RED has been a bird colour the books refering to a fast blackbird have been printed with the bird in RED. Which just goes to prove that not only is RED the fastest colour it is also more pleasing to the eye, and takes a better photograph. RED is no longer available as Honda have tried relentlesly to make it faster with different colour changes, they have had no success... and we await a new bird. Silver is just an in colour at present, and the bird will continue to be produced in this guise/undercoat until another in colour is available, this is supported by the fact that a lot of police forces now use slow silver cars so they can hide among the common masses. You will notice that Haynes manuals are printed with the dominant and faster RED colour as the main bike colour on its cover, with a small piccy of the slower blue and slower black variety.

I have to agree that red is always featured in most publications regarding the Bbird, thats because most photographers find the slow speeds it produce easier to capture on film.b0x1
