Finally gone and done it. Traded in my ultra reliable, gorgeous MAGENTA bird, of the 97 vintage, for a '00 injected bird (could be described as red) with only 9500 miles showing. Cost me only 1500 to change it, and pick it up Saturday, but reckon I am going to miss the original party animal. The bird is dead, long live the bird!

Things you will notice:

handles different ( I always reckon the carb ones handle better )

fuel usage.. efi ones are much thirstier

top speed.. efi ones are slower ( and that being red even slower still ! )

But.....

Slightly better charging circuit
slightly longer life rear shock and front springs
Georgeous champagne coloured wheels and frame

You know that is really a bit of an oddball as it has turned out..
I have come across no more than say 8(ish) bikes that had that fault..
It def was an issue but I suspect no where near as major as we all though and was led to believe..
In fact thinking about it, could that be the reason Honda so generously added to the guarentee time ? Cos it is not that common and they knew it was not gonna be an expensive issue... .. Call me Mr synic ( sp ? ) but that may well be the case !

I cant imagine why Honda change the loom. I did mine in a hurry last week and didnt get it clean enough so had big problems all week till I had time to do the job properly. I re did it this weekend and the thing that took most time was getting the rack off. I cant belive the difference now its done Ive got lights, the horn doesn't beep when I turn left BUT THE BEST IS
AWSOME
SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH
POWER
Its better now than when I got it with 2000 miles on the clock.
Sorting out the connector is so easy that I would reccomend that everybody who has a 99 Fi bird does it even if the bike seems to be showing no symptons at all .
