sadly , probably.

Despite getting a letter from the Central Ticket Office regarding my "alleged" speeding offence, claiming they have no photographic evidence to support the charge, guess what arrived in the post this morning, yep, a photo, but no date time reference on it and so indistinct that you cannot tell if ANYONE is driving, let alone me in particular, I could have taken it with my own camera. Again no documents asking for me to identify the driver etc etc, so bollocks to 'em, fightin it all the way.

So, if I can quote you, great, if not I'll take Punchy with me !!

if you know what I mean ................ :} :}

OK guys I'm coming clean.
As some of you have guessed the EP90 thing is a wind up.... yes I do own a Norton which uses EP90 as a gearbox lubricant.

Thing is I'm looking to add to my stable and my shortlist is The Bird, ZX9, FJR1300, T/Ace and originally the Hayabusa and the BMW KR1200?. So which do I go for? As far as sites go the Bbird site wins hands down.

I think all four of your hit list deserve a test ride, but personally suggest that the 'Bird is the best combo of sport and tour as well as quality of finish and refinement. (Do they still make a Thunderace ?)

ZX9 would prob be the best track day weapon still capable of doing some longish trips on, particularly in the hands of an every day talented rider, but then if u have sporting dreams, u would still get wasted by a good rider on an R6 for example.

The FJR 1300 would be my most curious think about (top tourer still with good handling ?) and if I could get one out for a track day, and it is as good as some say it is, might just be a hard choice to overlook if I can accept the fact finally that my track days r going to become fewer and my birthdays more prevelant :}
.....................but then the 1200 'Bird is coming??? Will it be more of a tourer or just an 1100XX with more speed??? I have a gut feeling it will be an improvement on both sport and tour aspects, so once again with a few tweeks (higher screen/ bars or suspension set up, could be still the best buy for an all rounder either bias of the sport/ tourer combo).

Maybe first post on all these other bike make sites and see what type of oil and how much they use to help u make your mind up:lol: :goofy:

Thanks B+S
The BMW has taken a severe knock on the head by an existing member of the list. The Suzuki Haya has shot itself in the foot with the attitude of Suzuki over the T1000 and subframe of the busa. Which leaves the BBird, ZX9 and Ace. I've owned a Yam (YZF600R) so I know the warranty work is A1...
I'm not interested in track day shite cos I wont be doing track days ...well not that many....and then its enjoyment if I do

Just to derail this thread even further, anyone else hear the reasons for the 'busa's short lived subframes??

Apparently it was due to the owners changing the exhausts for the lighter, racier ones. They forgot to mention to the owners that the exhausts are crucial to the subframes strength in the fact that they share the loads. Replace the end cans and you loose the sharing, subframe takes all the weight and eventually snaps under the strain. Thats why Suzuki refused to change them under warranty and stood their ground.

Sounds like people might have been putting back on the OE's and pleading ignorance, getting shot down in flames and whinging to "The Comic" who then neglects to mention the changes to the cans. Mind you, to build a bike that has the exhausts as a joint load bearer with the subframe?? Sounds like a minor disign flaw!

If Suzuki are stupid enough to design the exhaust as a load bearing unit, knowing that exhausts corrode, then I certainly dont want anything made by the company. I wouldnt consider it a 'minor flaw' either. The thought of being dropped onto the back wheel of the fastest production bike whilst steaming down the road at high velocity scares me shitless...

BTW had a FJR1300 for the day on test and decided its a bit too heavy for me.... and the gearbox is....well .....agricultural best describes it.

Like the man says, al the bikes you mentioned are worth looking at, but I am willing to bet you end up with a Bird :p
Kwak and Yam just cannot touch the Bird for build quality.. And while the ZX9 is a bloody quick bike, it does not do the MPG, the loooong easy milage, nor does it have the shear speed and power of the Bird..
The same goes for the Yam really,, but then after your test ride I spect you know this already !! :yo:

Ummm
Sorry
After trying all the bikes I had on my shortlist I finally settled for a Yamaha T/Ace. OK as far as sites go this is A1 and I hope you wont kick me off it, if you unsubscribe me then so be it. What made my mind up???? Well the BBird is furkin awesome at the top end but the Ace has so much low down grunt where I want it that I had to go with it.
