O6 Bird Downpipes

I have just had my 06 Bird serviced,,,,not cheap...I thought the uprated CCT was on its way out as there was a bit of a rattle at 3-4000 revs. The dealer says the CCT is fine the downpipes are vibrating inside down to loose baffles. They say put up or buy some new ones at 700 quid...,Firstly does anyone know where to get cheaper OEM downpipes secondly has anyone else heard of this..........Cheers Steve.....the bird has 16000 miles on

there are no baffles in the down pipes i could be wrong if it is the case s/s down pipes would only ?200/?270

if ya want OEM it would have to be david silver

Delkevic down pipes would do just as good.........g0551p

Yeah tried to look at that sight earlier. thats what the Honda main dealer said it was not too sure myself am going to ring honda uk tomorrow....they might be right though cuz they have a cat in them now....

Also the dealer said they have fitted a couple of delkovic downpipes but had problems with both having to cut some of the fairings

Sounds to me like you need a second opinion. Or try a new CCT first, its not exactly an expensive item and very easy to do. Talk to Jaws.

the cats are not in the down pipes they are in the cans thats for a fact

i would get a second opinion on it as some thing dose not sound right with what there saying

where you reckon for a 2nd opinion that was the main dealer, u think I should try another dealer

it has the new type CCT already fitted so shouldnt be a problem and they were adament that was checked and it was fine

Steve... Welcome, and please please find someone else to service your bike, that was the biggest load of 'I ain't got a clue' service I've ever heard.

Cheers after reading the CCT thread from Jaws Im still thinking its that.....I usually take all my bikes to RJS Superbike at mallory park top bloke, but as id just bought this bird i thought i give the main dealer a chance,,,either way i wont be going back,,,,where do you think to go I live near cov but can still go to mallory if we think,,,,,,also do people still think its the cct jaws reckons there good for avout 12000 mines 16000 . It is the 2 green dot cct but they dont say much.....cheers

Start bike, increase revs to 2500/3000 if it starts to rattle its possible its CCT. Does fairing rattle/vibrate? My OE CCT lasted 32,000 and still sounded reasonable. Bikes now on 42000.

Starts rattling about 3-4000 past that its gone fairing etc is fine,,,,could do without spending best part of 50 quid to find out its not the cct

Could be barking up the wrong tree here.....but.......have you checked that the downpipes are tight in the exhaust ports ??

Sure we had this one a couple of years ago......bloke changed cct, fairing mountings, chain and sprockets and God knows what else......turned out to be loose downpipes !!!

Worth a look and costs ya nothing. :-0)

just to let yoy know....just been into my local bike mechanic he got his stethoscope out but before using it switched the bike on within half a second says cct his words " ill give the main delaer my opinion on a letter head if they nee but its the f******g cct, idiots " so looks like we were all right....Am going to give them a piece of advice tommorrow and see if they will pay some towards the part for messing me about,,,,i doubt it,,,,,but just to be sure ill still let you have listen the weekend rob,,,,let me know how to contact you...Cheers Steve
