Missed out on it last year due to other commitments, any idea when in the year you're likely to be going ?

Last time I went it was with my Thunderace, want to see if I can improve on my time .......

Probably August, but wouldn't like to say until the schedules are published early in

March. What was your lap time on the Ace ?

not sure

cos me egg timer only goes to 30 mins :}

I was referring to a seat-of-the-pants time. When I first started going, I was v e r y s l o w but after 4 years of practice, I know I was improving, but then I took a year off.

Early August looks good and the Kraut weather should be ok???

so make it w/e 2/3 August as Bulldog bash is following weekend.
Checked schedules and looks ok for now, but we'll have to review nearer date as schedules can change at late notice. Propose we leave Friday afternoon, Eurotunnell over to Calais, then 3 hour blat down to the N'ring. B&B accomodation Friday and Saturday night followed by return on Sunday :dunno:

Joeboy,

Do you have any idea how much tunnel and B&B will cost yet?

As I mentioned before, I would love to go there again but the purse strings are so tight...

Costs and Opening Times

The costs are cheaper than you say:-

Tunnel return (5 day) ? 63.50
Single rooms with ensuite, and breakfast 30 Euro (? 19 )

These are actual prices, We booked to go on June 16th.
In fact I got a special offer for single room with breakfast and dinner for 42 Euro. Thats ? 26 per night including dinner.

Should leave us enough money to pay the lap fees.
Opening times for 2003 are now available at...
http://www.nuerburgring.de/eng/angebote/sf_n_q2.htm

If any others there same week, let me know.

Cheers for the link Barry.

The prices I quoted were, as stated, worst case scenario. I've no intention of booking a trip more than a few days in advance 'cos last time I booked up well in advance (a couple of years ago), they changed openning times the Friday we left the UK, which resulted in us only getting two hours over the whole weekend :B . And all 'cos Brabus wanted the place all for themselves :dunno:

count me in ...........

........ but I'll sort my own travel and accomodation as I'll be in Germany anyway. Meet you there in the main carpark adjacent to the starting point.

Right, I'm proposing we leave Friday mid-day on 1st August ride down and B&B it for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, then leave (early doors) Monday, back in the UK by mid-day. I'll sort the B&B upon final numbers. Tunnel will be ?63 as stated by Barry. B&B about ?20 per head per night including evening meal.
Can those interested please let me know by end of May so I can book up.

Mike W - will we still be meeting you there on ya new ZX9R ?
I may have my GSXR1000 by then

I'm sticking my neck out here and saying YES, cos t'other half was coming to England that weekend to see me, instead of me going there, but I'll speak to her and "persuade" her to come over on the 16th.

Oh one other thing .............
(Just a little request to whoever it was who used the expression "Kraut", please remember that it is not only UK peeps who read this forum!!! have you any idea how difficult it is to try an explain what it means to a German, in German!!)

Cheers.

Mike

(Getting me bike on Tuesday I hope !!!)

Oh boy! quilty as charged Mike. Hope I didn't cause offense and hope you explained it away by stating "it is a warm and freindly term of indearment we use for our fellow European partners of German origin"

Looking to get a few tips before hand in order to reduce my lap time.

Hey lumpy

you're obviously on the ball and probably right on the pace, so could ya not make the trip and show us how it's done? If ya don't fancy Germany, why not join us at Snetterton in July (?79) and give us some hints and tips then :h

Mmmm, Nordschleiffe!

any excuse to go home, count me in for the ring-run.

my bird will be neckid for this summer, so no serious laptimes from me!

and btw, we germans can easily forgive being called krauts, its being compared to the huns that bakes our noodles!

its about time the rest of the world realised that the huns were an asian race, that invaded but never settled in europe.

sorry 'bout the history rant, just don't mention the war!
not cos we've all got a problem with the war, more cos you won't stop the sound of german military music in my head untill i'm blind drunk:goofy:
