I'm officially a bit worried about my Moto Morini Granpasso.

These pic's are from another site I frequent & the rider was extremely lucky to have a controlled kinda stop.
Ok, his machine is the older version, but I can't see any difference between his or my swing arm.

That option has popped in my head many a time. I don't give up easily.
Unless you've ridden one, then it's hard to explain why I can't give up on it.

Joking aside it's a shite situation mate

I wouldn't be happy riding it knowing there is a potentially fatal problem and i wouldnt be happy selling it on and putting someone else's life at risk

The only thing i cant think of is to go to the maker and play merry hell as surely the bike was never of a salable quality

I would never sell it on until it's A1.
Some peeps have enquired if the existing swing arm could be beefed up structurally via welding supports.
Failing that, have one made up as a
prototype & then make enquiries for
mass production for the models affected.
Failing that, then the bike is worth scrap value at best.
Feckin gutted.

Not fully knowing the details of age and mileage etc but shouldn't that be cause for a safety recall?

Yarp, but there is no Morini factory anymore & parts are very frugal & only obtained via a Dutch company I think?
It's all a bit vague.
The new Morini's are now manufactured in China but no one is making new parts
for the later models.

& ignore the recommended free play @
time of production.

But as others have said, does the initial
investigation take into account the pivot arm bushings causing friction or indeed the single sided shock being part of the culprit due to preload to high or maybe even overloading the bike?
Too many variables to think about.

Same recommendation for the Triumph Tiger 955i as it prevents the output shaft from the gearbox breaking, or at least eating oil seals on a too frequent basis. It also increases the lifetime of the chain.

Chain tension have always been a thing with me, most people go with the recommended slack but it seems obvious to me that a big lad 2 up with luggage is going to compress the suspension more than racing snake me one up carrying no luggage, so by that theory chain tensions would need to be different or you end up with either an iron bar or a sloppy mess dragging on the floor
