Hi,
I have recently acquired my first Blackbird - Blue and Beautiful.

I am not a mechanic and need some information that someone will know off the top of their head.

I would like to fit Heated Grips (I know I'm a cissy), but need to know what size the handlebars are on a 2004 Blackbird - Blue and Beautiful. There seems to be either 22mm or 7/8inch are they the same?

Has anyone ever fitted Oxford Grips, that is willing to admit it, and will tell me is it a job for a non mechanic type.

Many thanks
Mike

hi

I have the hot grips fitted, I have had no problems and they are still working after three years. Its an easy fit, I wired them up to the battery direct and fitted a fuse in the system. There is other places to connect to like the brake light wiring. I used the battery because I have different radio systems fitted as well.
By the way Red is fastest w;;v

I got the wrap around one's, they work well but if you have small hands they tend to ache after a bit with them making the grips wider
Iv wired mine up to the ignition side (with in line fuse) so in case I forget to turn them off, I don't end up with a flat battery  .

I've got the Oxford ones.

Whichever ones you fit make sure that when you refit the bar-ends they don't tighten against the new grips as the first time you set off you will go shooting off the end of your drive because it causes friction and stops the twist-grip automatically returning. The cure is to stick a few washers on the bolt before you refit it.

No it didn't happen to me as I checked the movement before I fired it up.

You don't need to shorten your new heated grips and risk ruining them in the process. All you have to do is remove the steel clip that locates the inner bar end weight, and the draw the inner weight out of the bar slightly. When you've fitted your grips you can then refit the bar end and shove it back in just enough without causing it to foul the throttle.
